  Our guide , Prakash, was outstanding. We had a late start at 3pm and he maximised what we were able to do before the temples closed. He was knowledgeable and made our trip very special. I would recommend this tour although I did have concerns about where we would meet at the airport as Yo Tours did not respond to any contact. The airport in Madurai is very small and meeting up was very easy via WhatsApp

  Our guide Prakash was excellent and did well to explain everything to us. Unfortunately, the Meenakshi Amman Temple was mostly covered up (only one gopuram was not covered) due to scheduled restoration works - very disappointing. Plus there was a lot of building work going on to repair the damaged caused by fire. Also the Gandhi Museum was closed and all that we could were copies of artifacts in the main museum. Thankfully, the Thrumalai Nayakka Mahal Palace was superb and well worth the visit.

  Thank you that I got refund for the tour as unforeseen event occurred that “temple doesn’t allow foreigners to enter into sanctum following hinduism without cert” this should be highlighted in the tour description to avoid disappointment.

  Absolutely perfect way to see all the main sights of Madurai. Our guide Meeran was fantastic, accommodating every request and imparting so much knowledge of the places we visited and also about the vibrant city of Madurai.

  Someone once told me that Madurai is a village of 2 million people. So it is. I loved the energy of Madurai and the surrounding area during the Pongal festivities. Everywhere people were celebrating and graciously allowed us to join in. The temple was jammed with devotees waiting for a brief blessing by Shiva while those of us not Hindu waited for the final ceremony of the day by sitting around the central tank soaking up the sights, sounds and smells of such an auspicious time. I had wanted to see the grand sculpted and painted towers which I had seen first many years ago, but they are under renovation. If that’s a box you need to tick, you might have to wait another year or so. The Tepakulam Tank is another place where the best of Madurai comes out. Go at night and enjoy the atmosphere. Madurai is full of places to explore so enjoy!

  A truly excellent tour with a guide who paced the tour to our needs. He provided us with interesting facts and fascinating stories. Our driver was also wonderful and transported us in comfort.

• Interesting trip lots of sights and amazing carvings

  We had an very interesting trip with a great guide, Prakash and careful driver Meeran. We visited the church with the coloured glass windows shining in the sun. Next we went to a palace with giant columns, then to the wonderful temple full of fantastic carvings, some painted plaster on the towers with stone carvings everywhere at ground level, the pillars where particularly fine. We then went to the flower market, the veg market and Gandhi museum (mostly being renovated), banana market and midway included a stop for a tasty veg lunch at Sree Sabarees. Thank you Prakash for telling us the history of Madurai and all the names of the statues etc. and Meeran for driving carefully and getting us safely around.

  Very much worth having a guide to take tou around. Ours was very knowledgeable and really talked us through the history and thr culture. No phones in the temple so be prepared to leave them in a shop where tou will feel somewhat pressured to buy stuff afterwards. But nice guys and not too much of a hard sell. Take water as well..
