We did the birdwatching tour on our last day in Ecuador, and it was incredible—very well organized. Transportation was perfectly on time. Our guide, Andrés, is extremely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about birds. He doesn’t just point them out—he makes sure you actually learn about them. We loved that the tour covers different zones to spot a variety of species. It was amazing to see so many raptors in a single area. Bonus: Andrés even brought us coffee, tea, and cookies!

The tour was really well organised. The pick up and transport was good. The lunch was nice and a out the guide i have nothing to say about. The guide Andrés knew everything about every bird. He knew every bird by hearing it. Really good tour and well organised. The only thing that could have been improved if they bring a telescoop to see the birds perfect and make pictures trough the scope

We had a great time with Andres birdwatching, especially the first stop at the Laguna Mailas with many paramo specialties and colourful mountain-tanagers. Andres was very attentive to our needs and is a keen birder himself. A great day with lots of new birds.

It was outstanding!!! Andres was so knowledgeable about all facets of nature, and also had an incredible history lesson on the drive between sites. He was kind and very attentive to our needs, even having coffee and snacks available. We could not recommend him more or this tour more!

Birdwatching with Polylepis Tours and Edison as our guide was wonderful! We took 2 tours with them: 1) 100 birds in one day. In this trip we went to the Cajas National Park (~3200 meters above sea level) to see highland birds and then to the tropical lowlands (~200 meters), so we were able to see many species in different environments! We saw many types of hummingbirds, tyrants, tanagers, seedeaters, ibis, anis, ducks, swallows, and many others. 2) Reserva Buenaventura. In this 2 day trip we went south to the province of El Oro in the tropical region and made a few beautiful stops such as in the desert of Jubones (I didn't realize Ecuador had a desert as well!). After staying for a night in the hotel at 6 am in the morning we went to the Reserva Buenaventura where we saw many birds such as toucans, aracaris, honeycreepers, trogons, manakins, jacobines, and many others. And most of all, hummingbirds at an arm distance! Edison is a great bird watching guide, he recognized the birds instantly, was very accommodating to our needs, and an interesting person to talk to! If you go, bring with you a camera with a good zoom to take great pictures! If we go back to Cuenca, we'll definitely look for more tours by Polylepis tours!
