  We did our homework before booking a tour in London. With so many options available, we were looking for something more than a checklist experience — we wanted depth, context, and someone with a truly extensive knowledge of history. That’s exactly what we found with Ye Olde England Tours and Stephen Liddell. From the start, it was clear that Stephen is exceptionally well-read and deeply knowledgeable — not just about the well-known historical milestones, but about the lesser-known stories that bring London to life. He has an incredible ability to connect the dots between centuries of history in a way that feels natural, engaging, and memorable. Over the course of the day, we toured five major London icons, but what made the experience extraordinary were the moments in between — walking through hidden alleys, pausing at unassuming street corners, and hearing stories about events that happened right where we were standing. These are the details you would never discover on your own and that elevate the entire experience from a tour to something truly immersive. Stephen is tremendously funny, thoughtful, and engaging. He reads the room beautifully, adjusts to your interests, and keeps the energy lively without ever losing the substance. The day flew by, and we walked away feeling like we had not only seen London but understood it. We could not recommend Stephen and Ye Olde England Tours more highly. If you want a London experience that is intelligent, personal, and unforgettable, this is it.

  This was an one-of-a-kind experience. Stephen showed me through hidden gardens and courtyards that I would never have been able to find on my own. He gave an amazing overview of 2000 years of history including famous people, literary references, and ordinary life through the ages. Highly recommended.

  This was one of the best walking tours we've ever taken! Roman walls, secret gardens, bombing sites reclaimed by nature, wonderful new buildings framed by the ancients, private odes to unsung heroes, London haunts of those who left to become American icons...these are just the few of the treasures of this magnificent, private and serene walking tour that Stephen Liddell offers in the City of London. Strongly recommended.

  Book this tour! Or any tour from this company! Stephen is one of the kindest, most genuine, and knowledgeable person you will ever meet. If you are looking for tour to see more of a London than just the big touristy highlights, this tour is for you. See things like alley ways where gravestones were built into the building!   Two wonderful tours with Stephan . He knows so much. Showed me many of the hidden passages in the city of London and explained how the city Developed thru the ages. Walked up the monument to the great fire of London and saw the contrast of old and new London buildings.
