What To Expect
Musee Somme 1916

Lochnagar Crater

5.00We did a 2.5-day WWI battlefield tour with Chemins d’Histoire, and it was one of the most meaningful experiences of our trip. What made it especially powerful was sharing it with my Dad and brother. My Dad took part at 82 years old, and with his Newfoundland roots, walking the Trail of the Caribou and standing in Newfoundland Park felt incredibly personal for all of us. You could feel the weight of what those soldiers carried—and what communities like Newfoundland gave. Extending the tour into Ypres and attending the Menin Gate ceremony added another layer of reflection. It’s something we’ll never forget. Olivier was exceptional—kind, patient, and always open to every question. He made the experience accessible and meaningful for all three of us, and took the time to explain not just the Canadian story, but the role and sacrifice of all nationalities involved. It’s more than a tour—it’s something you feel—humbling, personal, and unforgettable. A truly special experience to share with my Dad and brother—one I’ll always be grateful for.
