Comprehensive tour for a shore excursion

5.00We arrived in Male on a cruise ship and were met at the tender wharf by our guide Mahmood. He picked us up in a private car and drove along the port road to find a car park and eventually parked in front of the National Mosque. We walked through the mosque and adjoining park and then walked through the main Market. We continued a drive past several government buildings and some of the oldest buildings in Male. We visited a man-made beach on the eastern side of Male before travelling over the bridge to the Airport island, the new airport terminal is the most expensive building project in the Maldives. We then visited a recently constructed housing complex on a large, reclaimed island. Mahmood provided interesting commentary along the way and was very proud of his homeland. It was an interesting tour provided by an enterprising and enthusiastic family man. He told us about the requirements to be a Maldivian citizen and remain one. There were 4 requirements, you must be a Muslim, must speak the local language, be a resident of at least 12 years and clean record and renunciation of any other citizenship

5.00Great tour to explore Male! We have booked this tour to pass time during a longer layover and we really enjoyed it. Mahmoud is a reliable guide with a lot of knowledge. He picked us up at the airport and showed us both Hulhumale and Male. The tour can be shaped as per the guests wishes.

5.00We recently took a tour with Mahmood on our departure day from a Maldives resort island, as we had a night flight that night. It was a great way to pass the day and very insightful, a safe way to see the capital city and show our kids and ourselves Maldivian culture….ie it’s not all fancy resorts. We learned a lot! Mahmood is a great host , very knowledgeable and flexible ( our seaplane time changed a few times due to weather ). Nothing was a hassle. There is also the option to store your luggage in the vehicle which is handier than having to do this at the airport (depending how much luggage you have). I would definitely recommend this tour , thank you Mahmood it was lovely to meet you!

5.00We did the Greater Malé Explorer Private City Tour and it ended up being one of the highlights of our entire Maldives trip. If you’re coming from a resort, this is the way to actually understand the Maldives beyond the postcard views. The tour gives you a real look at local life, history, and culture, something you just don’t get staying on a private island. Our guide was outstanding, friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and very flexible. He tailored the tour to our schedule and interests, which made it feel much more personal than a typical group excursion. Many reviews highlight how accommodating and informative the guides are, and we had the exact same experience. The mix of driving and walking was perfect. We were able to see a lot in a short amount of time without feeling rushed, including local markets, key landmarks, and nearby islands. The tour really strikes a great balance between efficiency and depth, which is why it’s consistently rated so highly. Another big plus is how customizable everything is. You can go at your own pace, spend more time where you want, and even adjust based on your arrival or departure timing. That flexibility made a huge difference for us. Overall, this tour is an incredible value and a must-do if you have even a few hours in Malé. It completely changed how we viewed the Maldives and gave us a much deeper appreciation for the country. Highly recommend.

5.00What a wonderful way to see Malé! Mahmood was a careful driver and a fantastic guide! He showed us all the sights we wanted to see and more! He has an extensive knowledge of his country and culture that he shared with us. The air conditioned car and the freedom to direct our itinerary were invaluable! I would definitely book with Mahmood again and we highly recommend him and this excursion!

5.00We had a long wait before we were allowed into the airport for our flight home after returning from a resort so decided to check out the city instead of waiting around in the seaport lounge. I'm so glad we went with Mahmood instead being in a boring lounge the entire time. Our seaplane back from the resort was late (as expected) and Mahmood was incredibly patient and flexible in our meetup and communicative over WhatsApp. We booked the private car tour and it was comfortable and easy. As for the actual tour, it's so interesting to see the different areas of Hulhumalé since it's not normally offered by most tours of Malé. Mahmood provided great commentary of the history of the islands as well as the state of the current development. He is a wonderful source of information and happily answered all our questions. The tour is also super customized and you can choose how you want to spend your time (whether that's shopping for souvenirs or trying out the best local fast food). I would highly recommend this tour.

5.00Great walk around Male, very informative. We had a great time walking and chatting about everything Male had to offer. We walked, took the bus and took a ferry to see everything across the 3 main islands. We had a blast and learnt a lot about the history of not just Male but all the Maldives. I would highly recommend.
