• Incredible scenery, poor guiding experience

  This tour takes you through some of the most beautiful scenery in Tajikistan. The Fann Mountains are breathtaking, Iskanderkul Lake is stunning, the drive itself is incredibly scenic, and the homestay was a real highlight. The room was comfortable, the views were fantastic, and the food was great. I also appreciated having enough free time to explore on my own. What kept this from being a five-star experience was the guide. Throughout the trip, I often felt like I was simply being transported from one stop to the next rather than being guided. At several stops, he would wander off to take photos and videos for himself, leaving me waiting without knowing where he had gone. It felt as though he was experiencing the tour for his own enjoyment rather than focusing on his guest. Lunch was another disappointment. We stopped at a lakeside restaurant that was dramatically more expensive than anywhere I had eaten in Dushanbe, despite serving a very simple meal, which left me feeling taken to a tourist trap. On top of that, he joined me at the table without asking and helped himself to the food I had ordered. There were also multiple occasions where I found myself waiting while he finished watching something on his phone or took care of personal errands. On the drive back, he was frequently using his phone while driving, which didn’t inspire much confidence. The itinerary itself is excellent, and the places you visit are absolutely worth seeing. With a more attentive and professional guide, this could easily have been a five-star experience.

  The lake was amazingly beautiful, and also visited a waterfall and another lake. Stayed a night at the village and the place was comfortable. Did a good hike with great nature views of mountains.
