  Took my 21 year old grandson to fish with Scotty in the Kenai River and a fly out to the Kustatan River. The first day on the river was great, catching our limits in a few hours. The second day was beyond great. The flight out was excellent, including a detour to deliver supplies to another remote work site. Our guide, Josh, was outstanding resulting in us catching our limits on spinners, a much more fun way than just soaking bait and waiting for a bite. The third day, again on the river, was a total bust due to constant heavy rain, resulting in us asking Scotty to head to the dock early to get dry and warm. I would definitely recommend Kenai Drift Anglers and will use them again when taking other grandkids to alaska.

  Once in a lifetime trip, and Scotty at Kenai Drift Anglers exceeded our expectations. My two teenage boys and I went fishing with Scotty for Sockeye Salmon during the end of July run and limited out in an hour. Scotty got us to a perfect area, and taught us what to do and we were hooked up. Waders and coffee were provided and the heated seats are a treat on the cold mornings. With a record run this year, all the processors were full and it was great Scotty has a relationship with one to be able to process, freeze, package, and ship if needed our catch home. 84 lbs of fish at the ready in our freezer. Thanks for a memorable and incredible day fishing Scotty. I even went back for the early trip the next day to get a little more fish and fishing in, and was limited with fish taken care of and back at the hotel before the family was out of bed.

  I had used Scotty before for fishing and had a great experience. This time I used his company it was a terrible experience. The day before my prepaid trip Scotty called and stated he was taking the day off and letting his partner take us out on the Kasilof River on a drift boat instead of the Kenai River. We had been on the Kenai watching everyone reel in tons of salmon so that was something ws were looking forward to but apparently that wasn't an option for some unknown reason. So we meet his partner who didn't have coffee on the boat or heat and it was freezing on the river at 6am. We tried a couple spots and after hours of casting and only one small salmon between us it was time to go. He pulled up to a muddy trail instead of the dock to drop us off and we were trying to take off his waders and put our own shoes back on while standing in mud with nothing to hold on to. This partner stated Scotty felt bad and would be taking us out the next day. Scotty called later and wanted another $800 after I had already paid over $1200. No way I was paying $2000 for salmon fishing. Needless to say we were very disappointed and unfortunately next time we will be booking with someone else.

  The drift boat trip on the Kasilof River on June 29, 2025 with Scot was excellent. He knew the river well and put us on salmon where we limited out within 45 minutes. His drift boat was top-of -the -line and all fly rods and reels were in very good condition. He was excellent guide, netted and cleaned all fish. Scott also recommended the a fly-in trip for the entire group of four. It was exceptional , limited out on salmon, saw bears and even flew over glacier. We are very thankful that he set up both of these trips for us. Both were great trips and once-in-a- life time experiences.

  3 friends from Oregon/Calif thoroughly enjoyed our fishing experiences with Scott!! Scott is highly skilled, amiable and informative throughout the entire trip. All three of us limited out on salmon and halibut over the 3 day trip and we're now back at home with our families enjoying full freezers of wonderful fish filets We couldn't have been more pleased with our Alaskan adventures!   10 stars! Best guide on the river. Scotty took up the Kenai to fish for sockeye. We had the best day. Hit our double limit 24 salmon Scotty taught us all the flossing technique, got us a great spot on the river which is hard to come by in July.   If there’s one place that you should go salmon fishing in the US, it’s the Kenai River in Alaska. If you’re fishing the Kenai River in Alaska, you want to book Kenai Drift Anglers. Eight months earlier we did all our research and booked Kenai Drift Anglers. Eight months later, we’re standing in the glacial waters of the Kenai River flossing for salmon. What? You never heard about flossing as a fishing technique. Me neither but our guide, Scotty, explained this unique fishing method. We were targeting Sockeye salmon, hoping to catch the last run of the season in mid-August. Scotty explained to us that Sockeye swim upriver to spawn and they swim with their mouth open. You basically cast your line perpendicular to the current, cast at noon as Scotty explains. Then, while the rod tip is pointed down, slowly sweep your rod tip to about the three o’clock position to a count of three. Just before reaching the three o’clock position, increase the speed to set the hook. It’s crazy to think that tossing a hook at the end of a line, without bait, into a fast-moving river and hoping that a fish swims by with its mouth open and somehow bumps into the line would work but we’re heading home with over 50 lbs. of ‘Red’ Salmon. Thanks to Scotty’s easy mannerism, patience, expert teaching, guidance, advice, knowledge of the river, and ability to put us on the fish, this was truly a rewarding fishing experience. We kept him busy too. He was running up and down the rocky river, helping us free snags, patiently instructing and re-instructing us on technique, calmly talking us through landing the fish, and most importantly netting the fish. He always had a big grin on his face when one would break off as he exclaimed, “that was a big Sockeye!” He expertly filleted the fish, recommended a fish processing company to prepare the fish to take home, and took the trophy pictures to share with family and friends.
