Yasaka Shrine

Gion
祇園は日本で最も有名な花街で、伝統的な木造家屋と狭い路地で知られています。日が沈むと提灯の明かりが薄暗くなり、神秘的な雰囲気が生まれます。祇園は数世紀にわたり花街文化の中心地であり、訪れる人々は芸妓（京都の芸者の呼び方）と舞妓（芸妓の見習い）のパフォーマンスの優雅さと芸術性を体験することができます。美しい路地を散策しながら、ガイドが芸妓の歴史、彼女たちの訓練方法、日常生活についてお話します。運が良ければ、ツアー中に芸妓や舞妓に出会えるかもしれません！ツアーに参加して、この象徴的な地区の本当の花街文化を深く探究してください。

5.00The tour was incredibly informative and engaging, and I thoroughly enjoyed both the fascinating history and the locations we visited. Keiko was an excellent guide - she was a good storyteller who brought the history to life and made every stop interesting. She was also attentive and thoughtful throughout the tour - always made sure everyone was included, checked that the group had caught up before sharing information, and proactively offered to take photos for different groups. Her friendliness and attention to detail made the experience even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about Kytoto’s geiko and maiko culture and history.

5.00We had an outstanding experience on Takuma’s Gion Kyoto tour. From the moment the tour began, it was clear that he is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate about Kyoto’s history, and genuinely enjoys sharing his city with visitors. Takuma brought the Gion district to life with fascinating stories, historical insights, and local perspectives that we never would have discovered on our own. He struck the perfect balance between providing information and keeping the tour engaging and conversational. We especially appreciated how he answered all of our questions and tailored parts of the experience to our interests. What made the tour special was Takuma’s warm personality and attention to detail. He made us feel welcome and helped us see Kyoto through the eyes of a local rather than just as tourists. If you’re visiting Kyoto and want a deeper understanding of Gion, its traditions, and its hidden gems, I highly recommend booking a tour with Takuma. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.

Our guide Takuma was great, before going on the tour he gave us a run down on the area's which we will be seeing plus info on the Geisha life. 5.00This was a fascinating tour. I went into this completely naive about Japanese temples and the geisha (geiko) culture. But left with a pretty solid understanding of both. Our guide Keiko was fantastic. She remembered every member of the groups names from the very start, which was impressive in itself. Beyond this she was very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. She started by taking us through the temple complex. She explained what each structure was for and how they were used. As well the different rituals involved around the different areas. Her clear appreciation of the geiko culture, was made all the more obvious, when we were lucky enough to see a couple of ladies, in full dress, walking along the streets of Gion. She would stop and whisper and offer them a formal greeting, with a look of awe on her face. In addition she also took the time to point out different restaurants that would be worth visiting. It was a real pleasure.
