A natural time capsule offering an opportunity to explore the cave at one's own pace. I choose to do the self guided tour which was easy to manage and very informative. Boardwalks and staircases lead you through the caves. Walking through the caves enormous icicle like stalactites hang from the ceiling while column like stalagmites rise from the ground. The limestone cave is about 500m long and 30m deep. Inside the cave it is remarkably cool and damp but with covered shoes manuvering over uneven terrain will be fine. Only the 160 stairs needed to be concured before exiting. Once outside the cave the trail leads into a forest of Karri Trees. The caves are breath taking and pictures don't do it justices

I decided to visit Mammoth Cave and do the self-guided audio tour (rather than the tours at other caves) as my husband wasn’t so interested in visiting a cave. It was a great decision as we thoroughly enjoyed our visit - having the self guided audio tour meant you could go at your own pace and there wasn’t a lot of noise from a large tour group. I would often pause and just take in the beauty of it all. There was a bit of a climb up the steps coming out of the cave again but very manageable. We took the extended walking track back to the entry which we enjoyed

Amazing cave with stalagmites & stalactites. Beautiful to see. Not too many steps overall but walkways are narrow. Can be cold in spots so kids might need a jacket. We loved the self guided audio tour. Well worth a visit.

Imposing cave with wonderful sculptures. The audio guide was in German, so we understood all the information about the origin and discovery of the cave.

Even though the chamber of the cave was massive and very beautiful, it wasn't to big, it has very easy access, once inside there is a few stairs but you could view most of the cave by not having to go up them if you physically can't do it. It was 42 degrees the day we went so it was a nice cool change, We decided to exit the cave and walk the 160 stairs out side and then walked back to the start, it was hard, but we did have the option to walk back through the cave to the entrance to exit, which if you don't do well with heat and stairs I would recommend. It's also self guided with ear phones and a walk man type thing so your able to walk at your own pace which was nice. It took us about an hour from start to finish Would recommend

Helpful staff. Self guided with very well functioning equipment. Great experience for sure . To understand more about the caves formation. Can get slippery so good gripped shoes is important. The light effects are very good inside. Gives the complete feeling of warmth and vintage. The gift shops wouldn’t have any food . Only drinks and ice-creams. So don’t turn up hungry . Clean washrooms . Enjoy the experience.

As part of our south west road trip we wanted to see some of the magnificent caves WA has to offer. After grabbing a little info at the Margaret River Information Centre, we rocked (pun intended) up at the cave mid week about 10:30am. Suitable covered shoes (not sketchers, we’re not in that age bracket yet) and clothing you’d go for a walk in We chose to do the self guided (headphones etc) tour costing $25 per person. This money goes back into the preservation and up keep of the caves in the area. About 4 or 5 I think. After a quick loo stop we’re off. There are about 15 or so points of interest on the self guided tour. All you have to do is punch in the 3 digit number on the signs in the cave. Easy. First stop. Press 100 on your recorder doovilacky and you’ll hear a bit of stuff about where to go, what to do etc. Whilst the self guided tour was informative enough. It really wasn’t for me. Others in our party enjoyed it, so I guess sit down to a choice thing. Caves are amazing. Mammoth cave is one of the easiest to navigate, so if fitness is an issue, maybe a little prep work before you go. Once you finish there’s about 100 plus steps to the exit and you get the choice of a short walk back to the main office or the longer walk which takes in all the magnificent flora in the immediate area. It’s only about a 20 walk. Definitely worth it Can’t fault the views, can’t fault the location. Got some amazing shots. Highly recommend you hit up at least one if not all the caves in the south west. You won’t regret these sites.
