  This was easily one of my favorite historical tours to date. The tour guide is a pleasure to talk to and is a joy to spend time with. His knowledge and passion for the history and subject matter is palpable and I appreciated it. The "haunted" aspect of the tour isn't overwhelming or gimmicky, but rather the contrary. The guide uses the history of hauntings to further boost the tour of Osaka Castle while including the accounts and locations of spiritual "encounters". As I prefaced, this tour is truly one of the best. I cannot suggest it more.

  What an incredible tour! I have wandered parts of the Osaka Castle grounds before, but we were also taken to locations that I hadn’t been to before, and the combination of completely new information and the information and anecdotes that built on the little I did already know made the experience all the more interesting and memorable! I felt like I learned a lot more about the people who resided in and around the castle and their lives and deaths. Each of those places we stopped by now holds much more meaning. I think that many people with varying interests would all find this tour fascinating and worthwhile and I sincerely recommend it to anyone at all interested in the people, culture, and history of Japan. It’s very clear to see that not only did our tour guide, Niall, know a lot of information and background about the castle, the grounds, and the battles and politics and history behind them, as well as the figures that passed through them, but he also has a wealth of other knowledge and information about Japan and its history, including some lesser known folktales and local stories and opinions. This is the kind of information that you can’t get from just reading the plaques around the castle, and it was presented in a much more interesting and compelling way. Also, aside from enjoying the various anecdotes, I really appreciated getting to understand the history of the castle and grounds in chronological order with details about the people, their relationships, the lives they lived, the ways they died, the politics, negotiations, plans, battles, hopes, and stakes, which were all so fascinating and memorable. It really felt like listening to a story! Niall was a wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide, and was very nice and easy to talk to personally as well. He also brought us to some great photo spots that have a unique nighttime view! The tour was around 2 hours long and so worth it! I truly had a marvelous time and would definitely go again in the future! Whether from the eerie or historical standpoints, I highly recommend this tour!

  Naill is a knowledgable guide who helped us learn about the history of the castle as well as stories of hauntings. We had a great time and felt we were hanging out with a friend who can tell gripping stories. A must for fans of the Sho-gun series on Hulu because you will hear some of the inspiration for story lines in the series. I’ve recommended Osaka Haunts to friends visiting Osaka and highly recommend him to all.

  My husband and I had a great time! Our tour guide, Niall, gave us great background history and relevant dark (ghost) stories while taking us through the quiet and eerie parts of the castle and park grounds (as well as some great photography spots). We were surprised at how empty the place is at night. Very different feeling than if you go during the day time. Really some fascinating stuff. Highly recommend!

  Amazing tour, the host was very knowledgeable about the history of the castle as well as the grounds, he took us all over the castle grounds for some amazing photo spots. Truly the best experience I had with the castle in my several years of visiting

  We joined the Haunted Osaka Tour because we wanted to learn more about Osaka Castle. To be honest, we were a bit worried beforehand that the ghost aspect of the tour might feel gimmicky, but it turned out to be an incredibly fun and highly informative experience. We were also lucky to be part of a very small group, which made the tour feel extra personal and engaging. Niall truly does an amazing job, you can immediately feel how passionate he is about the stories and the history behind them. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Osaka who wants a different and memorable way to discover the city’s history.

  Absoluetly great. We had a lot of fun on this Tour. A good mixture of history and spooky. The guide is an awesome guy. He knows a lot and is very funny. Would recommend everyone to try this tour. 11/10

  What a wonderful experience! For sure a highlight of my 2026 Japan trip! The guide was super knowledgeable, funny, and respectful. He took us to amazing vantage points of Osaka castle. He was engaging and genuinely fun to be around. If you have the opportunity to go on this tour I would highly reccomend it!

  This tour was perfect. Niall, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and we were able to visit and learn more about what made the locations haunted. Without the bustling crowds and with it being in the evening, it made the tour even better and a bit eerie. I’d recommend this tour over visiting inside the castle, which has been rebuilt and houses a museum with no sections showing what it may have looked like in its time. He also made sure we captured images in the most beautiful spots on the grounds.

  Tour is well worth it and is great to know the history behind what you’re looking at. Tour guide was spot on as well. Very knowledgeable, friendly and approachable and we felt like he was very easy to get on with. Would highly recommend. (Tour guide also recommended where to go after to get on the drink and his recommendation didn’t disappoint)
