• Sexually harassed, racially profiled, intimidated, and put in danger

  While the guides of Sawanu travel were very kind, unfortunately we were placed in an incredibly dangerous situation by this company. Traveling as 5 young girls, we were put on a boat with over 15 muay thai fighters and the majority of the trip participants were intimidating men. The trip started off very calm and pleasant, but soon one of my friends was groped by one of the fighters while in line for the inflatable slide. Later, another one of the fighters from the same group grabbed onto our paddle board and when we asked him to let go because we were using it, he pushed me off. Additionally, every time I walked by the group, they would say "arigato" because I am Asian (not Japanese). These incidents slowly built up throughout the trip and when we mentioned it to our guides, they confirmed multiple times that we did not want to confront or engage with the fighters whatsoever. However, they still ignored our wishes to simply speak with the manager and instead told the fighters that we were lodging a complaint while we were still on the trip with them. If I could put no stars, I absolutely would. The manager of this travel agency was dismissive and threatened us with filing a police order, refusing to help us receive a partial or full refund despite having CCTV proof of these incidents. And after we called the manager, the guides alerted the fighters that we had accused them and presented the situation as if we were demanding for the fighters to cover our fares. This was while we were still on the boat with them and we soon began to fear for our own safety as there were a lot of them and all of them were physically larger than us as well as any of the guides. It is incredibly disappointing that this is the result of our trip as it was one of the only excursions we had booked. TLDR: I would absolutely not recommend this tour company for families or groups of girls if you want to feel safe and welcome.

  I booked a Phi Phi Island day tour through my hotel for THB 3,800. I was picked up at 7:30 a.m. and arrived at the company’s staging area around 8:00 a.m. There were about 42 tourists waiting for departure. We were initially told that the boat would leave at 9:00 a.m. Instead, we sat through a sales presentation for waterproof phone cases and other add-on products. After that, we were informed that departure had been delayed until 10:00 a.m. The next activity was a loud entertainment session where staff spent around 30 minutes trying to get the group cheering, shouting, and participating in games and crowd activities. I booked this tour because I wanted to see Phi Phi Island and enjoy the scenery. I did not expect to spend my morning waiting around, listening to sales pitches, and taking part in what felt more like a resort poolside entertainment program than a boat tour. At that point I decided to leave. No refund was offered. Some people may enjoy this kind of experience. If you like highly organized mass-tourism excursions with sales presentations, group entertainment, and a lot of crowd interaction, this tour may suit you. If your goal is simply to get on a boat, see the islands, and spend your day in nature rather than in a staging area, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

  My family and I went on this trip on 25 May 2026 and we had a great time! Jeffery and all the staff were a highlight and made this experience even better. Everything was handled so smoothly and well even with a bit of a storm. Highly recommend. Also, funny question I need to ask the name of the biscuits that were supplied at the stop before and after we go onto the boats. There were these semi circle sugar biscuits that tasted like banana that my family and I were obsessed with!! We can’t seem to find them anywhere in stores. Thank you for your staffs time on this trip!

  Very bad experience with this company. The staff told me that these shoes were important and that I needed them, so I bought them. But after using them only once in the water, the seams came loose immediately. Very poor quality (see photo). I went back to the store to ask for an exchange or a refund, but they refused to help me. No refund and no replacement. This is really bad customer service. I do not recommend anyone to buy from this company. Poor quality and very bad treatment of customers.

  We did the Khai Island tour as we felt it might be shorter. In the end, we needn’t have worried—the catamarans were extremely comfortable and we did not experience any seasickness at all. The entire tour was meticulously organised, with clear coordination and plenty of enthusiasm from Tommy and his crew. Departure and arrival were punctual, and the day flowed smoothly from start to finish. Lunch was also very good and well organised. The highlight for me had to be the snorkelling, which was an excellent experience with plenty to see and enough time to enjoy it. The visit to “The Beach” was interesting, although it did feel a little Disney-like, with long queues and a somewhat conveyor-belt atmosphere. That said, this would likely be the case with any operator and is not specific to Sawanu Travel. Overall, it was an exhilarating and well-run experience. My only regret is that we didn’t have more time to enjoy it. Thank you Tommy and crew!

  Had a fun day, Enjoyed the scenery at Maya Cape, Long boat ride, and snorkeling. Pity did not see any monkeys. The trip was made even more special by the entertaining and caring guides Yaya, TJ, and the crew on the F6 boat.
