It is a good way to see the city and try some authentic food/beer. Marketa was a great tour guide who was very knowledgeable. I was taking it all in as alot of information.

We went with my wife and a couple of friends for four nights to Prague. It wasn't my first visit. We like and enjoy the city very much. This time we experience several unpleasant situations in different places and times. I don't intend to be a local, but a respectful deal. Despite the large presence of tourism in this Czech city, there is a clear lack of adequacy to those who come to know this and other cities in the country. Almost all texts on road signs or busy places are only written in the local language. This caused us in one case to be held in a place (Petrin Tower, against our will for more than 40 minutes, despite having requested, on more than one occasion and from more than one person identified in the place, to open a vehicular crossing that we had later passed closed, because there was no signage that warned us (I have photographic record of this). I received disrespectful and ill-inspired responses. I do not wish to elaborate on similar episodes that occurred on this walk through a city and a country that should be more considerate and careful with tourism.

A visit that will surprise you, as much as you have heard about Prague, for its old spectacular. Wherever you go, you have to photograph it. You can breathe the Gothic aroma wherever you step. The cross of Prague, curiously, is its stingy, distrustful people, unsympathetic to infinity and beyond, dry of treatment, and who do not look well at you for being foreign. In order to have an economy in which more than 60% depends on tourism, it does not take care of it as far as it should. It's like they think you're gonna take something from them or we're gonna force them into the euro and they're gonna have to stop stealing from us in the change, like we're jerks. You have to haggle a lot and pay in crowns if you don’t want to get out badly and if the waiter looks at you badly or throws the card on the table you shouldn’t take it into account, it’s that they don’t know how to do it better. And what is not already named, is to pay between 20 and 40 kronor (80 cents and 1.5 €) to use the toilets. Even at the McDonalds. It's amazing. And worst of all, they justify it and you really think that you will find a facility in optimal hygiene conditions... and you will find nauseating dens in which you barely have room to lower your fly Leaving aside the monuments and their, in plain sight, perfect conservation, Prague is a neglected city where the buildings with their shops seem to have no maintenance whatsoever, being able to find where you go shop windows and entrances to shops in practically ruined condition. Wood is present everywhere, wood that has not been polished in many years so they could well replace it with aluminum. Only international firms have their establishments in perfect condition. It is a recommended visit, although not for too many days as you will be looking forward to losing sight of everything that disappoints you

  • 4 days and an increasingly heavy depression

I arrived in Prague with a favourable outlook, having had good feedback and being attracted by this city, its history, its architecture, this culture that I felt different from ours. Yet from the first half day, my good mood (yet legendary) faded and gave way over time to the sadness of being there. Pros: the old town is charming, with its colourful buildings, churches, cobblestone streets, astronomical clock, carriages... yes we arrive in the centre and we want to walk, stroll, discover. The standard of living being low, the prices are also very affordable, food level, Uber (don’t take taxis they have a very bad reputation and this was confirmed by a young girl met who was literally insulted, assaulted by her driver and ended up in tears in front of us, because she had no cash and he didn’t want to declare his race) and accommodation: we were able to afford a very nice hotel with swimming pool, sauna, gym and it made our stay a little more pleasant. Because very quickly appeared the feeling of having gone around the city: we were on the Charles Bridge 3 hours after our arrival, after visiting the streets of the old center; bridge absolutely crowded that quickly gave a feeling of suffocation. In 4 days on site not once we could admire this bridge neither in the morning, nor in the day, nor in the evening, it was all the time under a human tide. The summer season may not be the best to get to this capital, the city was flowing under tourists and this probably did not help to enchant us; the city being small we quickly feel trapped by the crowd. We did the majority of neighborhoods on foot and unfortunately everything is done very quickly. Again the churches are beautiful, the architecture can remind me of a fairy tale in places but I was not transcended by the beauty of the places either, nothing has especially marked me compared to other trips I could make to European capitals. Culturally I was disappointed. Historic center, Jewish quarter, the other Prague a little off-center that allows you to escape the crowds, the panoramic views, the bar district: we really had to take our time to occupy 3 whole days. And the famous Prague Castle: certainly it offers a view of the city, but apart from the St Guy’s Cathedral which is really beautiful and grandiose, the rest of the visit disappointed me, an impression of gloomy sadness emanated from the place. I want to make it clear that the weather, sullen 3 days a week, did not help us but I have already visited cities in the rain and clouds and as long as a strong life and identity emerge, we manage to go beyond the unfavourable weather. Life we had a glimpse on Saturday night, we attended a jazz concert and had a great time! Classical music concerts in churches also interested us. Finally, people who gave the impression of being enthusiastic! Because the rest of the trip the biggest black spot was the population of Prague: I rarely met so many unsympathetic people! Tourists are not appreciated and we are made to feel it! Not a smile, at the restaurant the orders are taken in haste, no search for complicity with the customer, at the hotel yet luxury, the staff does not pre-empt the customer’s requests, we are kept waiting ostensibly! With a few exceptions that warmed our hearts, the Czechs seemed cold, unsympathetic, dull and communicatively sad! Yet we arrived with a smile and a few words of politeness in Czech, but nothing did, I felt depressed by this city and its inhabitants. Not to mention the fact that some people approached us on the subway to advise us this or that thing and compliment us on the beauty of our language and our women (that we clearly could not do the same, neither for women nor for men!) and that no confidence emerges from these people! I felt uncomfortable instantly. Whether the Czech Republic has a different culture, no problem with it, we come to discover a city and its identity, we come from a Mediterranean culture probably warmer and in human contact, they do not, either! But at this point it was blatant that tourists were not the welcome, we felt like we were disturbing permanent! You can sometimes hear that Parisians are unwelcome to tourists but then go to Prague and you will want to hug Parisians when you return! I didn’t think Mood could affect my mood so much but I arrived at the airport with an irrepressible desire to leave this country! (A flight cancellation and a one-day postponement completed us!) To conclude, I will be happy to have gone to Prague in hindsight because I travel to discover things that I do not know and that we cannot love everything, but among all my trips abroad, this one will remain like the saddest of all!

I loved the city of Prague, where history is at every corner, the movement of the city falls within the already written script. A city that breathes history, culture, without prejudice with its past experiences, is life continuing.
