  Highly Recommended Food Tour in Takayama We joined a guided food tour in Takayama and truly enjoyed the experience. Our guide was very friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the city and its local food culture. The tour took us through the charming old town and to small, authentic shops we would never have found on our own. The food tastings were varied, fresh, and delicious, and each stop came with interesting explanations about the dishes and local traditions. The pace was relaxed and easy to follow, even with children. What we appreciated most was the personal and authentic atmosphere — it felt more like exploring the city with a local than joining a typical tourist tour. Everything was well organized, and the meeting point was easy to find. Our tip: come hungry and book this tour early in your stay in Takayama.   What a great tour with a great guide! Our family (with two teenagers) loved it. Nanami was fantastic and gave us a fun and informative day!

  We met Hisa for our morning food tour. We started at a small farmer’s market at Takayama Jinya. We sampled some homemade miso paste. We then went on to the Morning Market along the river. Hisa explained the different foods and we had many samples. He is super friendly and enthusiastic! From there we walked over to the preserved historic streets. We were able to stop at different shops. We did sake tasting and my young adult children had sake ice cream (who knew?!). We were also doing the bike ride in Hida- Furukawa so we decided to have lunch there (which was delicious!). Hisa was great and we very much enjoyed our morning tour and would recommend!

  We loved the small group (6 people) food and culture tour of Takayama. Our guide, Nanami, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Her Australian connection was particularly special to us. Would recommend.

  Fantastic tour lead by Nanami and Roy who were very friendly and engaging . A great morning spent learning about Takayama, local traditions and learning about and tasting local foods.

  Nanami was so knowledgeable about the food - and the saki! Even though we had been mugging up a bit about Japanese food we learned an enormous amount. Was great to have the opportunity to have all our questions answered. Nanami was personable and engaging and we were taken to see excellent stalls and shops.
