  We arrived in New Zealand at 5:30 AM after a 14 hour flight. We had arranged a private tour of Auckland for 9:30 AM that morning. Our tour guide, Rubin's time management was impeccable. He patiently answered my many questions about the country, responding with knowledge and wit. We had a comprehensive and immersive experience in less than a five-hour tour. Shopping wasn’t a priority for us. Our guide, picking up on this cue, took us to the Arataki Visitor Centre, Te Whanganui-A-Hei (Cathedral Cove) Marine Reserve, Domain Wintergardens, and more. Tell them what you are interested and they will flex toward your desired experience. The waterways and landscape were stunning. We arrived at the airport precisely on time. It was a packed, yet relaxed, fun and fulfilling experience.

  We have confirmed the Private Auckland City and Countryside Tour for March 21st and requested pickup from the Cruise Terminal. However, we were informed that an additional charge of NZD 150 applies and we agreed. We later found out that a free pickup is available from a CBD hotel near the port (Hilton). As tourists, we are unfamiliar with local distances and locations. The tour operator should have informed us of this option beforehand, allowing us to choose the hotel pickup instead of paying extra. We are not happy with this lack of transparency

  The driver/ tour guide had no real plan. We were never in Auckland before and kept asking us what we wanted to see. He had no set itinerary for the 4 hour tour. He was just winging it. Disappointing.

  We landed in Auckland at 7am and couldn’t check in to our Airbnb until noon. This tour was the perfect way to pass the time while getting out there and experiencing the area and stretching our legs after a very long flight from the US. Tui was our guide. He was very accommodating and knowledgeable. He met us in the airport right off the flight, helped with our bags and took us to several great places based on our desire to see the outdoors and get out and walk a lot. Then delivered us right to our Airbnb. Highly recommend this tour, and Tui in particular!

  We can not recommend this company. They sent an unqualified driver who gave no commentary, made us feel uncomfortable, and when I contacted the company to relate our experience they just made excuses. Do not entrust your precious day in this gorgeous city to them.

• Don't Play Russian Roulette with Your Day in Auckland

  Beware this company! Sadly we must echo the sentiments of the other poor reviews below. Maybe there are some good guides, but you play Russian Roulette here. We booked our tour on Viator but the company did not deliver what they promised. We booked a tour for our travel group over 6 months in advance for our 1 day in the city. The tour promised a qualified guide with commentary. What they delivered was a very nice man who drove around, yet barely uttered 6 words over many hours. There is nothing more uncomfortable that silence over hours on what is supposed to be a guided tour. The two things he did tell our group were completely false and his few other communications were asking my guests questions about America. The most important information shared was that he usually picks guests up at the airport and brings them to their hotels: so not a guide. The pace and content of the tour was also not as listed. It was a confusing day. When we contacted the company for a partial refund, they told us we should have "called during the tour" to complain and that our driver was absolutely a trained guide, as if we had local cell service or that would have made a difference. We asked for a 25% refund, which we thought fair, and they offered us $7 per person back on 4 hour tour that cost over $100USD per person. Sorry, but they ruined our one day in Auckland. BEWARE!!!!!

  Our guide Douglas was very nice but he seemed somewhat confused about what he was supposed to show us. He was under the impression that we were supposed to tell him what we wanted to see as opposed to taking us to the sights listed in the Viator agenda. Time could have been spent more efficiently.

  We had one on one treatment which made the tour very personal. Our guide was knowledgeable and kind. 100% enjoyable.
