This was such a fun experience! Our guides were awesome and so friendly, the rail bikes were fun and really no effort since they're electric (my kids were worried), we had a stop at Glen Bair for about an hour where we were able to eat at the picnic tables (we packed a lunch) and did a short hike through the woods there. Glen Bair bar was open and serving drinks, sandwiches, snacks and candy- I couldn't find this information on the website and wish I would have known before that they'd be open- only reason I'm mentioning it here!

Lots of fun! Best part of our vacation. We picked up a delicious sandwich at B&C market and had a picnic at the end of the line pavilion deep in the redwoods. The primitive bar there and friendly bartender were a nice touch. And the loop trail was a good way to work off our meal. Riding the rail car through the beautiful scenery was the highlight of course! And the selfies we took made our fb friends jealous. Staff were awesome, informative, and kept us safe.

Fun experience with great guides Johnny and Windsong. Stops along the way to learn, a little physical activity. And an amazing pavilion and hike at the turn around point! Only regret is that we didn’t book the longer one.

Definitely a unique experience that was enhanced by our guides Johnny and Wind Dance. The attention to safety and our satisfaction was exemplary. Even during our break time, Wind Dance took time to educate the group on the local fauna to keep us fully engaged and appreciate the full experience. Thank You Skunk Train rail car crew for a job well done!!!!!

My wife and I had a mixed experience with a skunk Train and Rail car. We visited with our Dog Bonzi. We were told that dogs were accommodated She is a medium size lap mix about 55 pounds N ; when we got to the site, my dog was freaked out by high off the groundcages. We were expected to ride three instead offered a place on the skunk train itself this was acceptable to us however, since the Rail car is significantly more expensive than the skunk Train, they issued a refund for the difference, which is to be expected they were only offering to provide us with a certificate for the gift shop on premises full of skin Train merchandise in retrospect perhaps I should’ve been more forceful and accumulating 100 and something dollars worth of jun souvenirs some of which appear to be decent quality anyway I think there should be more discussionof accommodation of dogs before people purchased their Rail card tickets and I also know we were the only ones bringing the dog to attempt the Rail car ride unlike the Train itself, which had multiple dogs . Country itself is quite enjoyable at worth the money.

We took the Railbikes on the Noyo trip and it was fabulous! Riding through the redwoods was an awesome experience! The trip was very well-organized and the guides Sochi and Atlas were so knowledgeable and helpful. They obviously are very passionate about the environment. We stopped a couple of times along the route to Camp Noyo and both Sochi and Atlas shared their knowledge about the forest. For those who cannot or do not wish to pedal the 25-mile route, the railbikes are equipped with a fully electric motor which allows the riders to pedal as much or as little as they want.

We were traveling with our almost 5 y.o. labradoodle, Mia. We put her in a trailer and pulled her along behind us. To our chagrin, she yipped and kicked up a ruckus. I mean she was LOUD. We slowed down to put some distance between our noise maker and the other riders. I hope we didn’t ruin their enjoyment. At the turn around we asked to be put at the end of the line which meant a lot of work for the ‘conductors’ sorting the bikes to get us at the rear. Having said all of that…. My wife and I LOVED the experience. Can oldsters do this you ask? I will be 80 in 6 months. My wife won’t let me post her age but she isn’t a spring chicken either. So, yes you can do it! There is a ~1 mile hike that is guided and was worth it.

Went with another couple and thoroughly enjoyed the rail bike experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the ride through the redwoods was breathtaking. Not strenuous for these 4 mid-60 to 70-year-olds. We grabbed sandwiches from the Subway in Fort Bragg and had a nice picnic at the halfway point. Nice gazebo and tables as well as a bar for those who care to partake. The electric assist on the railbikes made it a breeze. Don't miss this fun and unique experience.

This is one of the funnest things you can do while in the Mendocino area! The check-in process/instructional video probaly could be cut in half, but understand "safety' precautions. They do provide a small basket for you to bring some personal items - most railbikes had water botter holders (ours did not). Pretty simple to operate, and no super level of fitness is required. There are a few stops along the way - history lessons - good stuff, if you're interested. Once you arrive at the end of the rail, snacks, full bar and restrooms available, and plenty of seating with games available. The (optional) hike with Sochi is about a mile long, and she does an amazing job explaining plant life, energy of the redwoods and general history of the area. There is plenty of time after the hike to kick back and enjoy a lunch (if you pack one), or go on the self-guided hike (you're here for about one hour). Ride back is non-stop. Wish they had a tip jar - we just gave the tip to one of the three staff - we didn't have change to split amongst them. All the staff were phenomenal!
