5.00Nestled in the serene Himalayan foothills near Rishikesh, the combined experience of Balkumari Temple and Patna Waterfall offers a compelling blend of spirituality, gentle adventure, and natural beauty. The journey begins with a scenic drive along winding mountain roads, where glimpses of the Ganges and forested valleys set a tranquil tone. The walk to the temple involves climbing roughly 400 stone steps. There are plenty of welcoming benches for a rest from which the spectacular mountain views can be admired as a thousand shades of green emanate from the lush countryside The walk feels rewarding at every upward turn and the temple is a haven of peace. It is dedicated to Goddess Balkumari, an incarnation of Shakti, and exudes a peaceful, almost meditative atmosphere. Shakti represents the divine feminine creative power, energy, and the active force behind the universe's creation, maintenance, and destruction. Here she is in her peaceful loving disposition far from other incarnations like the fierce Kali and Durga. The courtyard outside the temple offers sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Patna waterfall is an added attraction.
