Fantastic half-day in Matsushima

5.00We had a wonderful half day tour with our friendly and knowledgeable guide, Riko. She was so accommodating, adjusting the tour to our fitness level and interests. We started at the beautiful Fukuurabashi bridge, touring the island, then we went to observe the Zuiganji temple caves. Riko had so much information about the sites’ histories and the different impact of weather and natural disasters. It was an excellent experience and if you are fortunate enough to get Riko, she is an outstanding guide with perfect English.

5.00I originally booked with TripAdvisor, but cancelled it in order to get a longer tour--8 hours instead of 6. Riko-san was our guide, and she was very knowledgeable about the Sendai/Matsushima area and the attractions we visited. She was also flexible with times and at the end of a long day she even shared the location of her favorite sushi restaurant! Riko-san also helped us locate a guide for our izakaya tour. She went above and beyond the definition of service. We'd love to book with her and her izakaya friend, Mai, again!

5.00This is our first time to Japan, and it can be very confusing but we went with Riko from Japan Guide Agency, and this made this the easiest day possible. We came from North Carolina to Tokyo and now our adventure starts in Sendai after our visit in Tokyo. We wanted a guide to help us navigate this area and we were lucky enough to be assigned "Riko" for the half day. The moment we met her my wife and I were thrilled to be spending a day with her. She speaks wonderful English and with my horrible hearing, I could hear her clearly which makes it so enjoyable. I normally cannot hear soft Japanese voices but she made it so easy for us to hear and understand. We spent the day with her and yes we were tired at the end but it was so worth it to stick it out all day. One of the best things about Riko is; she meets you at your hotel and returns you to your hotel when you are so tired you cannot possibly take another step. Another amazing thing about Riko is she knows the trains and knows how to get the client moved around quickly and efficiently. We had no idea where to go to get the right trains but Riko make it smooth as possible. It was raining all day but we pushed through and that caused all the tourists to not be at the stops we were going to. It was like the shut down the area for us. Since it was raining, Riko would call taxi's for us and they came almost immediately. Riko is a wealth of information and we even met some of her friends along the way. If you are going to book a tour with this firm, ASK FOR RIKO, I know you will have a great day.

5.00Toured Matsushima with Yumi and it was wonderful! Weather was perfect we did a sightseeing boat and saw the fish market. Yumi gave great recommendations on where to go and it was a relief not having to navigate train stations and worry if my stop was coming up. She handled the boat and taxi reservations and let me know estimated costs up front. Had such a great time, she agreed to extend the tour as she had the day open after my tour time ended. Yumi added insights on history and culture into our conversations. She taught me some Japanese as well when I said I was leaning. I can’t say enough good things. Sendai is a great central city for a home base and many things to see around it. I loved the shrines as well as the people. Highly recommend visiting and touring with someone. I went early December which misses the fall colors, but before the snow and not a lot of crowds anywhere which is perfect to me.

5.00Our guide, Yumi san, is very good. She was very knowledgeable about the local history and provided context that made us appreciate the history of Matsushima and its sites. She is very enthusiastic and friendly and we appreciated her positive energy as she led us throughout Matsushima. She contacted me immediately after booking and wanted to know more about our interests so she could personally tailor the tour to our liking. She went the extra mile and we truly appreciated her efforts. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a tour in Sendai and the surrounding area.

5.00We had an amazing half day tour of the Matsushima/Sendai area with our tour guide Ichiro Kusaka aka Bob. He was very kind, informative, and funny. He “went the extra mile” to fit as much as we could into a half day. I definitely recommend this tour.

5.00We only had a half day in Sendai and Yumi made the most of it for us. We visited a shrine, the castle remains, a museum and she still had time to take us for requested treats! Yumi was amazing and she made Sendai fun and interesting for us!
