What an incredible day! Not only was Ricardo a fantastic storyteller, he was filled with love, joy, and pride for where he lives and shared it with us the entire time. I feel like I have a very strong understanding of the traditions of this part of the world, and I’m so honored that I got to go to these amazing places with these amazing families that do amazing work for their communities, and the world as a whole. Thank you for creating such an amazing experience for visitors and sharing your love of food, tradition, and your hometown.

Great tour. Pickup was smooth. All 4 stops were great. Lots of food and wine at each stop - no formal lunch but we really didn’t need one. Riccardo was a great guide - funny, knowledgeable, and did a great job translating for the vinegar and winemakers.

The tour was entertaining, informative and very enjoyable. We were picked up in a comfortable minivan and went to a nice local cafe for breakfast. Our guide, Ricardo, was very knowledgeable, incredibly funny and warm, even our 10 and 13-year-old kids loved the tour. We learnt a lot about Paramagiana Reggiano, the differences between IGP and DOP, balsamic vinegar, and Lambrusco. We also had the best Lambrusco at the tour. Ricardo was also very helpful when we asked for advice on other cities to visit while based in Bologna. Overall, we had a great time and the tour is something that you can't miss if you are passing through Bologna.

We only had a day and a half to spend in Bologna, but had heard of its great food reputation. This tour hit all the right notes. There were only two other couples in our group, and Val was our guide. It's clear that Val loves Bologna and enjoys sharing her city with others. Each stop presented us with delicious dishes and great information. In addition, we learned interesting historical facts about the city. My husband and I were very happy with the tour and would certainly recommend it to friends.

This was so much more than just a food and wine experience, it felt like being invited into someone’s actual life, and that’s what made it so special. Riccardo was the best guide and it kinda felt like being with a local celebrity. The Parmigiana portion was really interesting and gave you a whole new appreciation for it, but the balsamic experience is what completely took it to another level. It genuinely felt like you were at someone’s home, not a stop on a tour. The garden, the animals, the family living there… it was all so charming it almost didn’t feel real. And the flavors in each bite along the way were beyond. Not just “good,” but the kind of unforgettable where you keep thinking about it after. I’m not even exaggerating when I say I’m depressed not to be back there right now. And then the vineyard up on a hill, overlooking everything, it just felt too perfect. The wines were so unique to the area, and you could tell there was real pride and character behind every bottle. It wasn’t generic at all, it felt very specific to that place in a way that made it even better. The whole day just felt authentic, personal, and kind of magical without trying to be. Easily one of the best experiences I’ve ever had around food and wine.

This was, without question, the highlight of our trip. The tour is a full-day, premium experience that offers a deep, educational, and absolutely delicious look into the food culture of the Modena region. The Day's Journey: Our driver, Luka, picked us up near our hotel at 7 AM along with 5 other guests and drove us to Modena where we stopped for coffee and pastries and met our guide, Ricardo. Stop 1: Parmigiano Reggiano Factory. Ricardo guided us in detail through the entire process of making this "King of Cheese." The tour concluded with generous sampling and some wine and an opportunity to pick up some cheeses to go. Stop 2: Traditional Balsamic Vinegar. We learned the intricate, artisanal process of creating genuine D.O.P. balsamic vinegar. The tasting was fantastic, paired perfectly with homemade baked goods. We now understand what real DOP balsamic vinegar is. and no we have never had it until now. Stop 3: Local Winery. The tour in an intimate tasting room with a sampling of three unique local wines and a large plate of local meats and cheeses completed a perfect end to the food portion of the day. The Guide & The Value: Ricardo is an exceptional guide—a ball of energy with a genuine passion for his subject. His enthusiasm and deep knowledge of the history, science, and artistry of cheese, vinegar, and wine making gave us a profound appreciation for the D.O.P. rating. This was an amazing, educational experience we could not have found otherwise. Exceptional Service: The tour naturally ran longer than scheduled—a great sign! Our driver, Luka, worked tirelessly to get us to the train station on time, and thanks to his efforts, we literally got on the train as the doors were closing. Kudos to Luka! While this tour may seem pricey, the combination of custom pick-up/drop-off, a dedicated driver and guide all day, and the enormous amount of high-quality food and drink makes it an incredible value. Highly recommended! While this is a great educational tour, we don't think this is suitable for kids. This is a tour through the cheese and vinegar factories that requires some care. There is a lot of standing around listening to Ricardo talk about the history and the manufacturing processes and each stop included lots of wines. The van ride to and from Modena is around an hour or so in a full van that may not be comfortable for kids.
