  Awa Salu Kiteboarding was the highlight of our visit to Curaçao, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I traveled to Curaçao with my family—my spouse and our two children (ages 13 and 7). My teenage son and I signed up for lessons, despite having absolutely no prior kiteboarding experience. We wanted to become independent kiters (usually takes 3+ days of lessons), but we only had two days available. Kim was willing to consider tweaking her curriculum if we were up for the challenge. She thoughtfully adapted the instruction to maximize every hour while ensuring we learned safely and progressively. She also created a welcoming place for my wife and 7 yo to watch and hang out. Kim and her colleagues are exceptional instructors. She is patient, calm, encouraging, and remarkably perceptive about when to challenge you and when to slow things down. Her explanations were clear, and she consistently built our confidence without ever making us feel rushed or pressured. It was obvious throughout the lessons that safety and good technique were always her highest priorities. She was also joined by two other master instructors, which allowed my son and me to work with separate kites simultaneously instead of taking turns, dramatically increasing our time on the water and accelerating our learning. Their teamwork was seamless, and each provided individualized coaching that matched our different learning styles and progress. Beyond the instruction itself, the atmosphere at Awa Salu was one of the highlights of our trip. The environment was welcoming, relaxed, and completely free of sales pressure or ego. My family immediately felt comfortable. Also, the local kiteboarding community was equally friendly and supportive, creating an environment where asking questions and making mistakes felt completely natural. By the end of our lessons, we had progressed beyond what we expected in just two days and gained a solid foundation, profound respect for the sport, and the confidence to continue learning independently. I was so inspired by the experience that I am now buying my first kite. Our time with Kim was one of those experiences that stays with you long after the vacation ends. If you’re in Curaçao, Awa Salu should be at the top of your list.

  Have had 3 kite surfing lessons here and was a great experience. Not only was there good and clear explanation but there was also a very good look at improvement points and the lessons were quickly adjusted based on how well you mastered certain aspects of kite surfing, the 2 instructors who were present created a nice atmosphere and gave us a very nice introduction to the beautiful world of kite surfing

  I did the 5-day course in 3 days and had a great time. It was fairly intense, so it is advisable to be somewhat fit but Kim pays close attention to you, gives very good advice and knows when you need a break. She also has a lot of patience and explains everything with love often enough because you forget (her own words) a lot anyway, simply because it is not an easy sport to learn. But precisely because it requires effort (both physical and mental), the satisfaction of kiting is as beautiful once it succeeds. Thanks again, Kim! If I ever come back to Curacao I will definitely visit again!

  My kite lessons were given by Kim. Kim is a charming enthusiastic positive and highly motivating person. She helped me enormously to improve my skills. And she didn´t forget to make it fun.   Best way to spend my birthday! Kim took great care of me - we started with some skill refreshers and then proceeded to kite across the gorgeous bay! I struggled a bit in the beginning, but with her expert guidance, I was zipping around in no time! 10/10 would learn with Awa Salu again!

  Kim is a fantastic instructor!! I can recommend her to anyone. I had lessons from her myself but my son of 9 years old also taught them. Her instruction is short and clear. What I really like about her is that she always goes in the water. This allows her to immediately see where you still need improvement. In addition, Kim is a fantastic fun girl!!

  Kim's a great teacher. Keeping it light hearted whist not allowing bad habits to creep in. "Hands a body like a Pro!" Thoroughly recommended!
