• A disappointing day.

  Unfortunately the tour did not match the description. We had to wait quite awhile for our pickup in town. We never had the chance to stop at markets. Grand Bassam was a great disappointment. The old French buildings are in an extreme state of ruin. Our tour guide lives in Grand Bassam, and we spent a lot of time in the shanty town area. When we did get back to Abidjan, St. Paul's Cathedral was amazing. The guide didn't even point out La Pyramide, although we noticed it as we were driving around. The museum is closed for renovation. We were able to visit one room with a sampling of some of the exhibits from the actual museum.

  This tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Ivory Coast! Grand-Bassam is beautiful, but what made this experience special was getting to explore it with locals who truly know and love the area. We learned so much about the history, culture, and colonial heritage while also seeing everyday life beyond the typical tourist spots. We especially loved walking through the old colonial quarter, visiting local artisans, seeing traditional crafts, and experiencing the relaxed atmosphere by the lagoon and the ocean. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible, making sure we had enough time at each stop and answering all our questions. Transportation was comfortable, communication before the tour was excellent, and everything felt very personalized. If you want an authentic experience and not just a standard sightseeing tour, we highly recommend this tour. • Walking tour of Grand Bassam

  My husband and I booked the tour to Grand Bassam in early December 2023. We were bit skeptical in the beginning because the company headquarter was located in Norway and not in Abidjan but Sonia, our contact person, was very responsive, accountable, sincere and very helpful. Although there were no previous reviews at TripAdvisor and Viator websites, we felt assured that it would be fine. In fact, we had a great time visiting Grand Bassam by walking and later taking a canoe ride in the lagoon regardless of some language challenges with our guide. The official language of Ivory Coast is French. The guide spoke English but it was bit hard to understand with his accent. The driver and the guide came to a port to pick us up. We were on HAL cruise ship. The Abidjan city traffic was horrendous and it took us about 1.5 hrs to get to Grand Bassam from Abidjan. They customized our tour because we had to get back to the port by a certain time. Overall, it went very well and we enjoyed our tour. We fully recommend this company for the tour of Grand Bassam from Abidjan.
