  Absolutely magical experience. For a first time whale watcher i got lucky to have seen the magnificent blue whale. She was beautiful. And the free gave some yummy snacks and fruits. Well taken care and very organised. If o have to recommend spend that 50usd (which I paid but 35 usd is also possible ) t’s the best decision you will make. Thanks to the bro Kushan

  The whale watching was part of our Sri Lanka tour with Papaya Tours. I am therefore not sure if we were with this provider in Mirissa, but the boat looked similar: huge! One had to be there about an hour before departure to get decent seats; due to the crowds, one could only move around the boat with limitations - IF there was something to see. We were out for about 3 1/2 hours and mostly saw other boats. The most interesting thing was a large group of dolphins - which we soon left, as we wanted to see whales. Finally, we found ONE fin whale, whose back was visible about three times for a fraction of a second. At least for us; the guests in the back might not have seen any of it. Some had also fallen asleep out of boredom. The poor animal was surrounded by 15-20 boats. The crew was always attentive and provided water and snacks. The guide assured us at the end that we were indeed lucky - other groups see nothing at all. Nevertheless, from our perspective, it was a waste of time.
