Leo gave us a tour on a rainy day (and it was cold), but he made it an outstanding experience anyway! The tour lasted over 2 hours, so plan accordingly. As a person who has watched and loved the Sound of Music since I was little (not exactly yesterday), it was honestly nothing short of thrilling to stand in some of the spots where the movie was shot. Leo has an in-depth knowledge of the movie and it's music, but also lots of behind-the-scenes anecdotes to add to your enjoyment and appreciation. His little binder of stills from the film along with historic photos give you an insider view. The history of Salzburg that he adds in (also with detailed descriptions) kept the interest of my husband who is less SOM-obsessed than I. We could tell that Leo knows his history, enjoys the SOM, and loves his hometown of Salzburg!

My wife and i were booked into a Sound of Music tour by another operator in Salzburg in the afternoon 2 weeks ago but due to my personal interest in WW2, we asked Leo if we could do his tour the same morning. Even though there were no other people booked on the tour, Leo still did a private tour for us without charging us private tour rates! The tour was amazing to say the least! He's done a lot of research into designing this tour and it shows. There is so much WW2 history in Salzburg but the average visitor will easily miss all of it and you need someone like Leo to really take you around and show you the history of the place. The way he's put the history of the movie and that of the war is really special. He carried around a photo album showing us important historical photographs of the city which was a special touch. My wife especially enjoyed singing a verse of Edelweiss with him in the streets of old town. The afternoon tour absolutely paled in comparison to Leo's tour for us. Highly recommended!!

The N&N tour with Leo the tour guide was amazing. Leo took the time (the tour was approx. 3 hours) to show us the Salzburg city center and enable us to view it in the eyes of a spectator living through the second world war. We would recommend re-watching the Sound of Music before the tour, though even without it the experience really is "Wunderbar".

After really enjoying the Free Walking Tour, my boyfriend and I wanted to see/learn more so decided to join the Nuns and Nazis Tour - and loved it! Leo is a very friendly, engaging and interesting tour guide with tonnes of knowledge about Salzburg's past and present. He was really accommodating and organised the second tour for us along with another couple for the same day - thank you! The Free Walking Tour was a great way to get to know the city and really helped us to gain an understanding of where we were and what we were looking at. At the end we were given a postcard and map to help us get around for the rest of our stay. The Nuns and Nazis Tour was a fantastic way to explore The Sound of Music while also looking into Salzburg during WW2 and the impact it still has on the city to this day. There were plenty of opportunities for photos and a sing-song to some of the best tunes from the musical. My boyfriend, who has never watched The Sound of Music, also really enjoyed the tour, so I would definitely say it is for everybody - fan or not!
