A magical day berry hunting in the woods

5.00This was truly one of the best experiences I’ve had in my 54 years on this planet. Our tour guide Martin, was fabulous. We went into the forest near a lake and picked wild blueberries & cloudberries. Martin knew exactly where to take us so that we were able to pick the elusive cloudberries. What made this tour so special was Martin’s authentic love and respect for nature. He was so excited to share with us the beauty and majesty of the Lapland environment, as well as explaining to us the stewardship values for nature ingrained in the Finnish people. Martin provide the perfect balance between engaging in conversation and allowing us time to explore and connect with nature. He showed us how to make fresh blueberry juice over an open fire. There is nothing quite like enjoying the Lapland beauty while drinking freshly made, warm blueberry juice on a chilly day. And, no other berry tastes quite like cloudberries. I would readily take another tour with Safartica if we had more time in Lapland. Especially if the tour was led by Martin.
