What a highlight of our time in Lecce! Marco was an excellent guide with safe, high-quality e-bikes. He is personable, professional, knowledgeable, and has a great sense of humour. Marco was able to translate to English for us when any guides at our stops spoke mostly Italian, eliminating any language barriers along the trip. We saw the beautiful countryside, a fortified town and its castle, the guard house with a proloco group who taught us the ancient craft of weaving reeds (we got to keep our projects!), a medieval underground olive oil mill, and a hugely fulfilling visit to a family farm where they produced olive oil and cheese. The farm owners, Lina and her daughter Giorgia, treated us like family and even made a traditional friselle lunch for us (extra cost to add this, but 100% worth it!). We loved the excursion and would highly recommend it! In fact, if I ever return to this area, I would do it again!

This trip is such a brilliant mix of history, culture, and just pure feel-good fun — an absolute must if you’re in the area. Marco is a fantastic guide, sharing fascinating local insights and history with a great sense of humour that keeps everything engaging and relaxed. The three stops were a real highlight, each offering something different — from local arts and crafts to learning about olive oil production and, of course, tasting it. It all felt authentic and really gave us a deeper appreciation of the region. The bikes were excellent too — modern, well-maintained, and comfortable, with handy saddle bags provided. We’d highly recommend this experience if you’ve got half a day in Lecce and want to connect with the real spirit of Puglia.

This experience is one in a million. I highly recommend this tour with Marco and Nicholas, who both know the region well and share beautiful stories about the past. Additionally, hearing the ancient words of the Griko dialect spoken in an underground olive mill was an unforgettable treat. Marco has all the best connections in Puglia and cares for each traveler with attentiveness and a smile. He is very thorough in helping everyone feel confident on a bike! He gives great cues, guidance, encouragement, and historical overviews. We loved exploring the villages and taking in the scenery of Salento by bicycle, stopping with Marco to savor these unique homegrown experiences—it doesn’t get better than this in terms of hidden gems! You don’t want to miss booking this tour with friends, it was one of our favorite days in Italy. Thank you Puglia Bike Experience!

My wife and I took this tour and we both agreed it was fantastic! After winding through the streets of Lecce, we entered the beautiful countryside, biking through small towns, olive groves and farmland. Marco was extremely knowledgeable and explained what we were seeing, its history and answered our many questions. We stopped for a tour of an old underground olive mill, which was fascinating. I never realized that olive oil was used for lighting lamps back in the day. Seeing the large milling stones and learning about the process of making olive oil was very interesting. All in all a great experience and would recommend without hesitation.

I took 3 tours with Marco- to the frantoio, Gallipoli and hiking along the coast. All were memorable experiences thanks to Marco’s calm manor, joyous spirit and knowledge of the area. Would recommend any excursion!
