Zhangjiajie National Forest Park
In the morning, your guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby at the time agreed with you. Then let’s set off to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. For your convenience, you can book a hotel near the East Gate of the Park.
BaiLong Elevator
After entering, let’s take the Bailong Elevator, the world’s tallest and fastest outdoor sightseeing lift attached to the cliff, to reach the summit in merely 88 seconds.
Coming out of the elevator, you’ll reach Yuanjiajie Scenic Area. See the ‘Avatar’-filmed Hallelujah Mountain, Back Garden, Enchanting Platform, and No.1 Bridge under Heaven. Lunch is not included. You are recommended to have a hearty breakfast and take some snacks with you for a simple lunch. Fast food is available, like Dicos in Yuanjiajie and McDonald’s at Tianzi Mountain, but sometimes there is a long queue.
Board the eco-bus of the park to Yangjiajie, where dozens of rolling peaks capped with pines stand parallel and resemble a row of stone walls, known as the ‘Natural Great Wall’.
Tianzi Mountain
Let’s take a shuttle of the park to Tianzi Mountain, known as ‘an enlarged bonsai, a minified fairyland’, and a perfect site to see the sea of clouds. Finally, take the cable car down and return to your hotel accompanied by your guide.
In the morning, your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel lobby and then accompany you on a 40-minute drive to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon.
Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge
The most thrilling thing that will welcome you is the world’s highest and longest transparent Glass Bridge that spans the canyon. Be brave to walk on it to experience the feeling of strolling in the air while beholding the stunning panorama. Kind Reminder: The entrance ticket to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon covers the main scenic areas, but does not include optional activities such as the zipline, sightseeing elevator, lake cruise, or bungee jumping. To keep things simple and stress-free for the whole group, we won't be arranging these extras during our visit. This way, we can all enjoy the tour at a comfortable, unhurried pace.
Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park
In the afternoon, let's visit the Tianmen Mountain. Witness the most iconic Tianmen Cave, also known as the Heaven’s Gate, and take the round-trip ropeway. Hold your breath when taking the shuttle on the legendary 99-bend mountain road, and get stunned by the 7-level transmountain escalator.
Zhangjiajie
At the end of the tour, your guide will escort you back to your hotel.

LJ is a great guide. Being born and raised in the area gave him the inside knowledge of the place which we appreciate. His familiarity of the area gave the tour a personal take of Zhangjiajie. Highly recommended.

Our guide to the Avatar Mountains was Lily. The next day with Mia to the Tianamen Mountains. Both spoke very good English. They explained a lot about the trip. We were very satisfied with both guides.

It was a wonderful experience and the tour guides Herry and Lily were helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. Lily provided additional support by booking a show afterward and helping us get the kids situated. She went beyond her tour guiding to help us and we are grateful. Be prepared for these tours which require a lot of stair climbing and walking. Food, drinks and bathrooms are available.

I booked the 2 day tour. Day 1 with Christina for the Glass Bridge and Mount Tianmen and Day 2 with Phoenix for Forest Park and Bailong Elevator. While the weather wasn’t on our side I found both tour leaders to be helpful, friendly and informative. Nothing was too much trouble. The transport was organised well too. I would certainly recommend the 2 day tour to others.

We did Day 2 of the tour (Glass bridge and Tianmen mountain) with Christina. She was punctual and safety was a big priority for her, which was much appreciated. Although the place was very crowded, she navigated the group brilliantly. She speaks very good English and we spent a wonderful time with Christina on Day 2 of the Glass bridge and Tianmen mountain tour.

After flying in from Xi'an late yesterday/early this morning. We took a slightly later breakfast before catching buses to the first karst mountain peaks. Known by the Avatar movie, these ancient peaks and spires loom out of the mist, in an enchanting fashion, taking us back through time. The grandeur and spectacle is mind blowing, and our excellent Tour Guide 'LJ' (who was a marvellous host), led us to many sights, for differing perspectives on the stunning mountain karsts, including a 'natural great wall' formed of joined karst structures. On another peaks, we learnt of the local Tuija peoples, their history and that of a Tuija general Xiang Dakun, who led a resistance war against unfair taxation of the region by the ruling dynasty. We took a cable car ride down. Next day we toured the Grand Glass Bridge over a deep canyon. We could choose to ride Ziplines, Giant Slides, river cruises and hikes from the cavern floor, or take elevators up and down. In the afternoon we met native monkeys on the paths of The Golden Whipstream Walk. It was a tranquil path through lush mountain forest with a bubbling stream for acoustic bliss all the way. On day 3 the morning rain meant that we could negotiate a slight change to our itinerary. Many tour guests were keen to see the Hualong Caves (Yellow Dragon Caves), so we asked to add this in, as other walks may be less satisfying in the rain. This astonishing Cave system was at our own expense as a chosen extra attraction, and it did not disappoint from my expectations! This giant cave system inside the mountains, was artfully developed to include a riverboat ride and optional 1000+ stairs ealk to view even more amazing stalamites and rock formations. We were next privileged to see Tianamen Mountain's famous Heaven's Gate formation, with the 1000 stairs to its base. This day saw rainy weather adjust our plans slightly; we walked a sub-section of the 1000 stairs, as the rain reduced our confidence in steep inclines or more wet skywalks. But their were internal escalators that still permit seeing Heaven's Gate up close, and the Mountain Plateau above, should you be so inclined. We walked another section of skywalk and took another cable car back down to our own VIP bus. We enjoyed yet another local restaurant lunch (or snack, as some were still full from earlier dining), before being taken that afternoon to the airport for our flight to Shanghai. I must say that in Zhangjiajie we met our very best tour guide LJ, who went above and beyond his role, to make sure our every need was met, that we received helpful dinner recommendations and tips on where to buy what, plus help with group photos and individual shots too. LJ is the only tour guide I would want to book, if I visit Wulingyuan and Zhangjiajie again.
