Join us on a scenic 4-hour small group minibus tour from Ísafjörður to one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls, Dynjandi. Travel through the breathtaking landscapes of the Westfjords with photo stops at stunning coastal viewpoints along the way.
Keep an eye out for seals resting on the shoreline, seabirds soaring overhead, and even the occasional whale spotted in the fjords. At Dynjandi, you’ll have time to walk up to the waterfall and experience the beauty of the Westfjords’ most famous natural attraction.
On the return journey, we stop in the charming fishing village of Flateyri. If time allows, guests are welcome to enjoy a quick coffee, pastry, or light lunch at the local café while soaking in the atmosphere of this historic village.

Isafjordur
Framed by steep mountains and wrapped around a quiet harbor, Ísafjörður is the cultural and economic hub of the Westfjords — and your starting point for today’s journey. Though small in size, this historic fishing town carries a big personality. Colorful 19th-century houses still line the old streets, and the harbor bustles with life, from working boats to adventurous kayakers. As we pass through town, you’ll get a glimpse of daily life here in Iceland’s most remote region — where modern life blends effortlessly with old traditions. If time allows, we may swing past landmarks like the old hospital-turned-cultural-center or the Maritime Museum housed in one of the oldest buildings in Iceland. Ísafjörður is more than just a gateway to nature — it’s a living community with deep roots in fishing, folklore, and resilience. From here, we’ll head into the fjords for a taste of Iceland’s wild, untouched beauty.
Dynjandi (Fjallfoss)
Rising like a shimmering bridal veil from the cliffs of Arnarfjörður, Dynjandi is not just a waterfall — it’s a full-body experience. The name means “thundering,” and you’ll understand why as soon as you step out of the vehicle and hear its roar echo through the canyon. At 100 meters tall, with a wide, tiered cascade that narrows elegantly as it climbs, Dynjandi is often called the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland — and for good reason. A short path leads from the parking area up toward the base of the falls, passing several smaller waterfalls along the way. Guests are welcome to hike as far as they like, or simply admire the view from below, where the mist dances in the sunlight and seabirds wheel overhead. Surrounded by dramatic fjord scenery, this is one of those places that stops time. Whether you’re snapping photos, soaking in the power of nature, or just breathing the clean mountain air, Dynjandi leaves a lasting impression long after the tour ends.

Can climb along side of falls but it is Strenuous for normal Joe! Rocks are steep up and down but higher levels were worth the hike. Chose not to go up to highest levels due to knees. Was a Beautiful day and Drive! Jake was Very Informative about area and customs. Loved the Local restaurant!

The waterfall was spectacular. The tour guide very knowledgeable. However we were in the second last row and due to road and fan noise were unable to hear quite a bit. The last stop in the fishing village was a waste of time. It is a tired old town and wasn’t worth the time allocated.

Jake was wonderful to listen to. He grew up in the USA and came to Iceland at 21 and could not imagine living anywhere else. He is passionate about Iceland and its history. He made sure all of his group was accounted for and checked in. Very entertaining! Very highly recommended!

We are so happy we booked this tour with Jake. He met us just outside the ship, exactly where he said he would be at the appointed time. We were in a large van, not a huge bus, so felt we got more personal attention and also we were able to go off the beaten path a bit to see things we would not in a large bus. Our guide shared his love of nature with us and pointed out different birds, seals, etc, which was so nice. The waterfall was amazing and we had ample time to hike to the top or hang out and enjoy the spot. Later we drove through a small Icelandic town to see how the people live, and visited a charming old book store. We had lunch in this town and it was a pleasure to interact with the local proprieters who really know how to cook! You won't be disappointed by the carrot cake or the local dishes. We were on a cruise, and it's worth saying that this tour was 1/2 the price of a similar trip through the cruise line. Our guide was very cognizant of time and we felt like we were in good hands. It was a perfect 5 star tour we will remember for a long time.

The waterfall was one of our favorites, with a bit of a challenge to hike it but worth it. We were able to see a rainbow through it. My daughter and I had a mini panic attack when we couldn’t find our guide van afterwards. They all look alike and our guide wasn’t out with signage! I’d advise you to take a picture of the van’s license plate as they were a little too lacking, and casual in collecting the group. The quaint old fishing town that we visited afterwards was a nice added attraction.

A memory created for live. You will not find these views anywhere else in the world. Amazing weather with the son providing a perfect backdrop to the views.

The places visited were interesting especially the waterfalls which were quite spectacular. The reason for my low marks is the tour provider utilized by Viator. We booked the tour way on advance and followed the meeting place directions to the letter, both time and place. We were met at the location and our names were on the list. They were also taking walk ups. We were directed to an old van which was full except for the four seats at the back of the van. We began the trip and the speaker system was not working (operator error) so we missed the first 30 minutes of the tour (along with half the other people). In addition, the ventilation system was not working properly and all the side windows were fogged over and we were constantly having to wipe the windows clear. At the first stop I told the guide to try using the vans microphone instead of her headset and to open a window to alleviate the fogging issue. From that point on those issues were resolved. One other point was the tour guide spent as much time talking about herself as the points of interest. Maybe giving it two stars was being generous.
