We visit the less touristy hoods around the Jean-Market on our food tour. From a single mom-no-pop shop we learn about our Latino community and sit down at a Salvadoran neighbourhood joint where locals go. We learn about the different communities that make up the area and pop into Little Italy for an iconic bakery when open.
The Jean-Talon market is the largest of its kind in the country. We try goat cheeses that are so farm to table they remind us of that scene from Portlandia. We visit a spice den, point out other great vendors, try some of the best charcuteries in the province as well as a few surprises like a forager and more depending on the season! You’ll want to go back to the market after the tour.
In Little Italy we explore the streets and area, sip third wave joe and learn about our progressive coffee scene. We head to a bean to bar award winning chocolate “factory” that will showcase some of the best stuff Montréal has to offer, period.

This was an amazing tour! Great food, a little history, and some great stories about the Montreal beyond the normal tourist stops. Our guide Jesse was fantastic! He weaved together the food, culture, and history of Montreal and three hours flew by. This is a great tour for everyone. Book now and enjoy!! June 2026

This was a fun tour to local businesses and an open-air market. Every sample was delicious, and it was nice to hear the stories behind some of the businesses. Very clever to end at the chocolate shop. That’s where I spent most of my “fun money.” 😜

Very informative experience. Went to areas we would not have found ourselves. We learnt the history of some of the restaurants which was nice to find out. Jesse was very personable and shared lots of interesting facts! Tasted local foods, many of which we may not have tried or found ourselves.

Very pleasant experience. Wonderful guide, Mel, good tastings & good company! Loved the Jean Talon Market! Quite a few tastings all in one spot which was very welcomed, since we did a lot of walking before the tour. I love food tours!

Chris was an excellent tour guide. He was so sweet and friendly, and made an effort to get to know everyone. He really cared about the places we visited and neighborhoods we were in because he lived nearby. Each place was hand-picked as a small, local business, usually single family run, and there was a wide variety of foods to try. We also had a bit of time in Jean Talon market which was the cleanest and most orderly market I’ve ever been in. I ended up buying several things to go that we tried along the tour. The pupusas was a highlight and a great start. The charcuterie board, the salmon samples, and the dips from the fatoush girls were excellent. We learned a lot from Chris, and it felt like hanging out with a friend for the day. I chose this tour because it was “off the beaten path” and explored different neighborhoods and foods than the traditional Montreal bagel, sandwich, and poutine that all the other tours seemed to be doing, and it did not disappoint! The subway was an easy and cheap way to get there, or you can rideshare, because it’s out of the normal “tourist” zone. Absolutely loved this tour and highly recommend it.

You will be delighted with the Montreal: Jean-Talon Market & Beyond Locally Owned Food Tour. Jessie, our guide, selected a wide variety of stops that appealed to everyone from mushroom enthusiasts to chocolate lovers. We learned an interesting history of each business or establishment that we visited, and then we enjoyed a sample of their products. Everyone in our group was extremely happy with this culinary experience. It was difficult to select our favorite tasting locale as each had a unique charactor. The tour was well timed and allowed for a break midway. Thanks to Jessie for a wonderful food adventure in Montreal!

Chris was just the best guide to walk us through the city of Montréal. He found out what we were interested in and pivoted to include it. We would talk about other cities we’ve traveled to and he would be able to contribute no matter what we threw out; he’s well traveled. We are grateful to have spent a few hours with him and all the knowledge he shared with us.
