For the Flexible Tour Option, booking is available up to one day before departure. Start anytime, even before dawn for a Borobudur sunrise. To witness sunrise inside Borobudur Temple, tickets must be booked via the official website at least two days prior; otherwise, sunrise will be enjoyed from Hill with stunning views of Borobudur and Mount Merapi.

Borobudur Temple
Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in the world, a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in Central Java, Indonesia, stands out for several reasons. Constructed from gray andesite-like stone, it features nine stacked platforms six square, and three circulars crowned by a central dome. The temple is adorned with an astonishing 2,672 relief panels and originally housed 504 Buddha statues. 5.00We had an excellent service provided today. We had a custom tour starting from Borobudur at 4am, Sethumbu lookout, then to 2 other temples in the area, Merapi Jeep ride, Prambanan and dropping us at our Yogyakarta hotel. Our driver Joko was excellent, safe and was good company through the tour and arranged the time well and took us to an excellent restaurant near Prambanan. I would recommend them without any doubt! You will be in safe hands with these guys.

5.00We visited Yogyakarta for two days with Surya, who made the experience perfect. Flexible, discreet, and patient. They suggested what to visit and adapted the tour to accommodate all our requests and curiosities. Where possible, they acted as our guide themselves, leaving space for other visits instead. Thoughtful and honest. They advised us on where to eat and how to adapt to various contexts, in addition to sharing a lot about the daily life and culture of this city and its wonderful inhabitants. 5.00Surya was an excellent guide: professional, warm and kind. It was a pleasure to be accompanied by him. The temples are remarkable. Remember to book a ticket to visit Borobudur via the official website a couple of days in advance - Viator can help with that if needed - in order to secure your preferred time slot. You may wish you had more time for each! The Merapi experience was a lot of fun - be prepared to get wet!

5.00We had an amazing experience with Joko as our driver. He took us to the Royal Ballet, and the highlight of our trip was definitely Borobudur Sunrise via Manohara. It was absolutely incredible, a small group experience with a knowledgeable guide who led us to the best spot on Borobudur Temple for sunrise. He explained the history and meaning behind each level of the temple, and even helped us capture some great photos. Afterwards, we enjoyed an unforgettable breakfast buffet on Nagi Hill, overlooking the temple. The view was breathtaking, it really put into perspective the vast scale and beauty of Borobudur. Later, Joko drove us to Prambanan Temple, about an hour and a half away. He’s a very safe and considerate driver, and his car was so comfortable that we managed to have a quick nap along the way. Once we arrived, he helped us purchase tickets and made sure we were all set with a local guide. The guide was excellent, full of knowledge about the stonework, restoration process, and the temple’s rich history. This was truly an unforgettable experience, and we couldn’t recommend Joko enough. If you book a tour with him, you’re guaranteed a magical time. Oh, and you can’t miss his car, a distinctive Chevy that stands out among the crowd of Toyotas!
