  If you are looking for an excursion that combines adventure, exclusivity and the best of wine culture, this tour with operator (Paulo) is the ideal choice, having exceeded all expectations with a truly amazing experience in every detail. The day started with the right amount of adrenaline on an all-terrain vehicle ride, which allowed us to explore trails outside of the conventional tourist map and access miradours with breathtaking panoramic views. The cultural immersion was followed by private visits to historic farms, where we were able to get to know the production process, from the treatment of the land to the bottling. The wine tasting was one of the great highlights, with the tasting of exclusive references explained to the detail, the wine harmonization lunch, with flavors where each dish, confectioned with local products, married in perfection with the selected wine. From beginning to end, the operator’s impeccable organization and care with every detail have turned this day into an unforgettable multisensory experience that I recommend without hesitation the full day tour.   Five stars without hesitation. Paulo, owner and guide of Douro Autêntico Adventure Tours, is an exceptional host who goes above and beyond to ensure his guests experience the very best of the Douro Valley. Rather than simply following the tourist trail, he took us to off-the-beaten-track locations with breathtaking views, introduced us to outstanding local dining, and shared a collection of hidden gems that we would never have discovered on our own. A particular highlight was a wine tasting in a beautifully renovated convent — one of those special experiences that makes a trip truly memorable. And then there’s Paulo’s special-edition Land Rover Defender. Touring the valley in it felt like flying business class through one of the world’s most spectacular landscapes. If you’re looking for a unique, authentic and unforgettable way to experience the Douro Valley, I couldn’t recommend Douro Autêntico Adventure Tours more highly.

  We had an absolutely memorable experience in the Douro thanks to Paolo, this exceptional guide. It was not simply a tourist excursion, but a true immersion in the culture and authenticity of the region. Originally from the Douro, Paolo showed us places where tourists usually do not go, with a sincere passion for his territory and its history. We visited a beautiful village dating back to the Middle Ages, still inhabited today, which was fascinating. The moment of the picnic on his estate was particularly touching. His wife and two little daughters warmly welcomed us. All the products had been carefully chosen locally to let us discover the flavors of the region. We also greatly appreciated that he allowed us the time to enjoy a quiet moment together. Paolo is a generous, passionate, cultured person, very humane, and speaks fluent English and French. Even on the winding roads of the Douro, we felt perfectly safe with him. If you are looking for an authentic, human experience away from mass tourism, we recommend their services without hesitation.   My husband and I took the train from Porto to Regua in the Douro valley on a rainy day where Paulo was waiting to pick us up in his very well kept 2008 Land Rover. This was our best excursion yet in our 7 week trip to Europe. We enjoyed a private wine tour at Casa Santa Eufemia family estate. There we had a fantastic lunch and a wine tasting. Paulo then took us on a Back road tour of the area he spent time in as a young man sharing his knowledge of the region. We stopped at a beautiful overlook and he shared wine from his families vineyard. We then proceeded to the village of Barcos. The village had charm and history. We were able to enter Barcos Catholic Church originally built in the 12 century. As we made our way back to the train station through the winding hills we were in awe by just the simple beauty of the valley. Paulo gets our highest rating this trip for helping us plan the day, his attention to detail, his professionalism, and communication.   A perfectly planned and executed day——Paolo thought of everything. The jeeps are clean and comfortable, the views spectacular, the boat ride gorgeous, and driving thru the vineyards was amazing. We visited a small village, had an amazing lunch —with wine pairings— at a Quinta, and had a tour and tasting at a port vineyard. And after ALL of that we were taken to a hilltop picnic with views out over the Douro that are impossible to describe. Best tour we have ever had, anywhere.

  This experience was the most beautiful of our stay. Indeed, thanks to Paulo, we were able to discover an authentic Douro valley rich in history. The program of the day was so well organized that we did not see it parade. From the boat tour on the river through lunch, tasting of Porto in a cellar in the region, picnic and finally all the Jeep rides in the valley paths, the excursion was simply a complete, magical and intimate discovery.   Paulo was fantastic, his communication when booking our tour was great; he responded quickly, was clear and made sure the tour was unique to us by ensuring we didn't go anywhere that we had already planned to visit. On the day he collected us from our accommodation and we started our tour. He treated us to a delicious Pastel de nata and a glass of port made by his uncle which was a lovely unexpected touch. His tour was truly off road meaning we got to see views and places we never would have seen on any of the other trips we'd seen advertised. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and his English was great! The visit to the local village was a lovely addition and the vineyard we visited was perfect. To picnic lunch was beautiful and accompanied by a bottle of wine. In summary; the tour was amazing, great value for money and we would highly recommend Paulo to others.
