The "ladies in a green hat" of Discovery Walks are the expert guides on Historic Bayeux and have been running their informative and enjoyable tour since 2014. This city tour enables you, your friends and family to discover the best of Bayeux history in a fun and engaging manner. Admire the architectural features of its medieval buildings, including its superb cathedral. Let your guide regal you with stories of ancient trades and old customs. Learn about the origins of Normandy and the famous Norman kings of England starting with William the Conqueror. Our guides are fully bilingual French / English, knowledgeable and fun!

If none online is suitable, please contact us to check if we can accommodate another date or departure time, subject to availability, or if your group is larger than 4. Please advise if there is a wheelchair user and the age of the children. For the "foot pick-up" option, see list of proposed hotels or ask if possible from yours.

Outstanding experience. A cold, windy day. Our guide was fluent in English, knowledgeable, and truly in love with Bayeux. A highlight of our trip to Normandy was this tour. Highly, highly recommended.

Christele was an excellent guide. She spoke English very well and had great sense of humor. The history of the area was well explained and provided great context for all the sites. This walk was the best walking tour of our 14 day trip!!

We took this tour on our 4th day in Bayeux. So we had seen the city but not understood the historical significance of the city. Christele changed that for us. She is a charming and knowledgeable guide. Not only was she great at the history but she provided insights through the eyes of an art historian. She took us through history from the Middle Ages to today inside the very small area of Bayeux. Because of the rain we opted not venture out to the British cemetery but she described why that area is of importance to the people here (the liberation and De Gaulle). It's good to know how the future is molded by the past. Unfortunately the Tapestry museum had just closed for a 2 year period to allow for a new building to be constructed. So we had a full tour of the cathedral. Private tours are really the better option if you want to know what you are seeing. Thank you, Christele.

We did the Bayeux city tour with Christele Tait on 31 May 2025. It was a highlight of our visit to Normandy. Christele was easy to communicate with, was prompt and did a delightful tour of the city. She mixed history with humor and was very enlightening and entertaining. I highly recommend Christele's tour.
