• Fantastic trip with amazing scenery

  I booked this tour because of the beautiful scenery pictured with the tour description on the Tröll website and because of the included adventure activities and optional extras. It exceeded my expectations in both regards! The highlight of my tour was getting to see all of the amazing and varied natural sights as we travelled around this spectacular country. Our tour guide, Haffi, was very friendly and knowlegeable, and made the tour fun and interesting. The guides for the special activities were excellent as well and took good care of our group. My husband and I took advantage of all the optional extras, and we did not regret our decision. We thoroughlly enjoyed all of it and thought it was worth the additional cost. The accomodations varied from the more rustic Tröll properties to larger and more upscale hotels in some other locations. They were all suitable, though. The included breakfasts had plenty of options and gave us a good start to our day. The only downsiide to the hotels was that the rooms were often quite warm, but that seems to be typical across Iceland. The one negative during our tour was that meals could have been better coordinated. Since Haffi is a native Icelander, he knows the country well and asked if our group would like to see some extra sites that were not included as part of the tour. We said we did, but that added extra time to the day, making for long days and difficulty with dinner plans on multiple occasions. My husband and I enjoyed all of the places we visited, but we would have preferred to spend less time at each location, so we could eat earlier and have some down time at the end of the day. In all, this was a very memorable trip, and I'm glad I chose this tour over some of the others I had looked at. It was a great experience traveling with a small group from several U.S. states and other countries, rather than on a more impersonal big bus tour.

  I went on an 8-day ring road trip with troll.is in May 2026. The weather wasn't stable, but it didn't stop me from wowing at every moment, and we still saw lots of beautiful animals. I usually travel alone rather than joining multi-day tours, but I am super glad I did it this time! Our tour guide, Thales, was great, and I was so lucky to meet a bunch of cool, wonderful human beings along the trip and become friends with them in the end. I started the trip alone but ended it with a group of warm people.   We recently visited iceland. Our stay included an 8 day ring road tour with Troll ….. The tour was one of the best i have been on. The 18 passenger bus was quite new and the tour was very well organized. Everything happened that was supposed to happen. The biggest bonus however was our guide and bus driver Siggi, a proud icelandic viking. Siggi was a wealth of knowledge who seemed to know everyone and everything icelandic. He always had good tunes on the radio generally accompanied by a snap quiz which included name this tune and what movie was this song in the soundtrack. He was a master at getting all passengers bonded to the point everyone was saddened when the tour ended and everyone went on their way. Thanks Siggi for a great holiday and learning experience.   I just completed my 8 day summer ring road tour with Troll. ​At the start of my journey, my guide John told us, "I'm going to show you Iceland through my eyes." Let me tell you, his eyes see something truly incredible. He used showed us the most magical, breathtaking places in Iceland. Because he is actually a geography teacher, he explained everything to us with incredible geographic and historical depth. He made extra stops standing in those spots with just our small group was pure magic. He was incredibly friendly, patient, and made me feel completely comfortable and safe. Even after the driving was done for the day, he went above and beyond by giving us amazing tips and local recommendations for places to see and restaurants to try near our hotels. He even booked table for us to have dinner together ❤️ If you are planning a trip to Iceland do no futher home work. Troll.is & John is the ultimate guide for the Ring Road. He doesn't just drive you around, he shares his passion, his knowledge, and his heart and take all optional activities with every penny. Thank you, John, for truly showing us Iceland through your eyes!

• ICELAND ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME

  Just wrapped up the most epic 8-day adventure, last week of May 2026, with John, our guide who is a National Treasure of Iceland. If you’re on the fence, get off and book this tour RIGHT NOW. John isn’t just a guide, he’s a one man whirlwind of Icelandic joy. He loves his adopted country and as a geographer he has a unique insight which he excitedly shares with his tour passengers. The man moves like he’s personally powered by geothermal energy. Always on time, always smiling, always in good spirits, always ready to throw in extra stops because, “you’ve got to see this…”. He knows every waterfall, every volcano, every glacier, every church, every free restroom, and every restaurant. We ate very well thanks to his suggestions. John turned our group of strangers into friends that will reach out to each other in the future, all except for one couple that generally complained about most everything and never smiled, they were better than the rest of the group, you know the kind! His playlists were fun and age appropriate for older folks. John cares about providing the best tour possible to his passengers. He’s very well organized, ensuring we arrived first to the attraction or activity so we could avoid the crowds, so we could take the best pictures and even so we would get the prime tables at the restaurant. We felt like VIPs the entire time. John’s passion for Iceland is next-level. He speaks with an accent since he is from Romania and he speaks his native Romanian as well as English and Icelandic fluently and bits of other languages, however he is GREAT at Communicating and by Day 2 it was easy to follow “John speak”. He’s bursting with facts and history and geology and folklore. You’ll be smarter, happier, and addicted to Iceland. If you want a slow, polite, narrator (think whale watching trip), go on a 50 person bus tour. Then again, if you want personality, John is your guy. John deserves 5 star reviews from every passenger. We requested he provide us with links to places we could leave our reviews and he helped us out. Thank you John! Bottom line: This trip was pure magic. John made Iceland feel alive, personal, and fun. He’s passionate, knowledgeable, a great crooner and genuinely cares about giving you the adventure of a lifetime. If every tour guide was like John, the world would be a much better (and louder) place. John- You’re a kick! Thank you for the memories, the laughs, and for showing us your beautiful country the right way. We’re already recommending you to everyone we know. And, we’re planning our next booking with you for the Northern Lights. BOOK THIS TOUR. YOU WON’T REGRET IT!

• Amazing tour, even better guide Thales

  I joined an 8 day Summer ring road tour at the end of May 2026 and had an absolutely amazing time! Iceland has long been on my bucket list and this tour captured the highlights in a way that exceeded my expectations. The accommodation was good, the bus comfortable and the itinerary did not feel too rushed. Climbing a mountain to the ice cave, seeing whales right next to the boat in Akureyri and the multitude of waterfalls were all amazing experiences. The highlight of the tour was our tour guide; Thales. He managed a group with diverse age ranges extremely well, took us to extra stops that meant something personal to him and was a great source of both laughter and information. • Great way to see Iceland!!

  This was my first group tour and it could not have gone better. Iceland is a beautiful country and I truly felt like I got to experience it all with this tour. From fjords to waterfalls to glaciers and a spectacular ice cave (the highlight of the tour in my opinion); Iceland does not disappoint. Our tour guide, John, could not have been better.   This was the best tour we have ever had. Having an Icelandic Viking, Siggi as our tour guide made this trip extra special, his knowledge was exceptional. He was so much fun, lots of laughter. Anything requested was no trouble for him. He is exceptional.

  We joined Troll Tours' 8-day Iceland tour in May 2026 and had an outstanding experience. The itinerary was exceptionally well planned, covering all the major highlights at just the right pace without ever feeling rushed. What truly made the trip unforgettable was our guide, John. From the moment he picked us up until the final drop-off, he was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about sharing Iceland with us. He provided excellent insights at every attraction, practical advice on safety and weather conditions, and great recommendations on where to find good local food. John is also an incredibly skilled people person. He somehow managed to turn a group of strangers from the US, Europe, and Asia into a friendly, interactive travel family by the end of the tour. His sense of humour, warmth, and enthusiasm made every day enjoyable. It's clear that guiding is more than a job for John—he loves people, loves sharing knowledge, and has a deep appreciation for Iceland, despite not being a native Icelander. Highly recommended.
