Fukuoka Castle Remains
Fukuoka Castle, also called Maizuru Castle, was once the largest fortress in Kyushu, built in the early Edo period by the powerful Kuroda clan. Today its impressive stone walls, turrets and ruined gates sit within Maizuru Park, a leafy oasis in the heart of the city that is one of Fukuoka's most famous cherry blossom spots. Climb to the former keep for panoramic views over the modern skyline.
Ohori Park
Ohori Park is one of Fukuoka's most beloved green spaces, built around a large central pond created from a former moat of Fukuoka Castle. A scenic 2km path links small islands by stone bridges, making it perfect for a relaxed stroll. The grounds also include a traditional Japanese garden, cafes and the Fukuoka Art Museum, offering a tranquil escape in the middle of the city.
