Soul Surfing Maui offers private surf lessons away from the crowds at Ukumehame Beach, also known as "Thousand Peaks." We provide all necessary gear, including surfboards, rash guards, and booties. For kids, we have wetsuits and float vests available if needed. Our friendly instructors teach water safety, wave etiquette, and reef awareness. Students will learn essential fundamentals, including efficient paddling techniques, how to pop up, set their stance, maintain proper form, turn smoothly, and safely dismount to a seated position at the end of their ride. With guidance on selecting the right waves and skillful push-ins from your coach, you’ll be up and riding in no time. It doesn’t matter if you’re 5 or 75—this is your chance to learn!

5.00An incredible experience! Brian coached my session and he is phenomenal. He taught me the basics quickly and got us out into the surf in no time! Each moment spent was directed at making sure I got the most out of my experience. He is a master of his craft, judging what waves are good, explaining positioning and form on the fly, while also making sure I wasn’t wearing myself out. Brian tailors the lesson to your fitness level flawlessly and keeps the vibe chill and relaxed no matter how big the waves are. Brian’s 30 years of experience is worth every penny and I will recommend this to anyone interested in surfing. 10/10 experience, you won’t find a better instructor. I hope this review helps!

5.00Brian was a great instructor. I booked a lesson as an introduction to surfing in Maui and to give me some pointers on turning. Ukumehame is a stunning place to surf. The surf was a little small for my lesson but that meant there weren’t many people on the waves which was nice. Brian also offered to help me out with a board on another day so I’d have more time on the waves.
