No visit to Budapest is complete without a cruise down the Danube River to marvel the incredible gothic, Neo-Romanesque, Neo-Classical architecture that flank both Buda and Pest sides of the river. The most strategic spot is where the Buda Palace face off the parliament house. Timing matters too – the 8.20 PM ferry in summer is the most popular. You get the orange wisps of sunset, followed by the spectacular lit-up view of architecture in darkness. Silverline is packed with an assortment of tiered passengers – those with unlimited prosecco drinks, others ordered off the menu. It’s premium prosecco they serve – Bottega, not your tatty street drink. They are generous with refills too – so by the end of your 1-hour cruise, your head is bubbling too. I emailed to ask if my teenage son could get unlimited lemonade prior and it was an OK. However, we were denied that onboard. But George, by George, the lovely chappie of a waiter gave my son a second round. He is sunshine all round. #eatstylishtravelstylish
