Entsu-in Temple
Our first stop is Enstuin Temple, the treasure of the historical Date Clan. Here you can walk through the tranquil meditation grove of cedar trees, rose garden, rock garden, and learn the history of the National Important Cultural Property situated on the grounds.
Zuiganji
We will then continue on to Zuiganji Temple, one of Tohoku’s most important Zen temples. Your guide will accompany you through the grounds offering historical insight and context to the grounds and interior of the main building of Zuingaji. You will be able to take in the gorgeous gold leaf paneled doors while your guide informs you of the Date Clan and their historical significance to all of Tohoku.

5.00We did the Matsushima Bay Highlights Tour with Kimberly. She was a great guide - very personable, knowledgeable and explained the history and culture of the region very well. Happy to answer all our questions and happy to tailor the tour to suit our needs. A most enjoyable day, and would highly recommend Kimberly and the tour.

5.00I had an incredible time exploring Matsushima today, and Kim was an outstanding guide! The itinerary was a perfect blend of history, culture, and stunning views. The morning visits to Entsu-in and Zuiganji were deeply peaceful, and Kim provided fascinating context about the Date Clan. We loved the iconic views at Godaido and the poignant stop at the Earthquake Memorial Monument. Lunch at the Fish Market was delicious, followed by a surprisingly fun trip through the Retro Museum. We finished the day perfectly with tea at Kanrantei and a relaxing 50-minute bay cruise. Kim was professional, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience seamless. Highly recommended!
