  By far the best historic railway adventure we've been on. The volunteers are splendid and very well versed with the history of the area. Would definitely recommend paying the extra for the VIP carriage.

  Lovely relaxing ride on a beautiful steam train. Wonderful staff, very good food and friendly locals waving us by. Scenic stop in Amamoor. Great outing!

  We had a VIP Experience courtesy of our children for a Father's Day gift. It was great. Only downer was a storm passing through Amamoor just as we arrived. We shared a small table for 2 with comfortable chairs, complimentary bottled water and cheese and crackers plate each. We were met at Amamoor by a C&W singer with a smooth voice and some market stalls while we watched the engine being turned around on the turntable. For some reason we did not stop at Dagan on the return trip and so missed the wine and cheese tasting that's mentioned on their website. A little disappointing. Overall the experience was well worthwhile and enjoyable, the commentary provided while on the trip was informative and interesting and all volunteers were extremely friendly and helpful to the extent that as my wife is not a large eater, it was arranged for her provided lunch to be presented in a takeaway container for her to enjoy later - which she did. Thank you again for a great trip.

  Experience was great on the train, refreshments included were nice but could have been better. Carriage supervisor Ralph was very good. He engaged with us and was very informative. Part of our VIP experience included a meal at the station cafe, unfortunately this was not good which rather spoilt the end of the trip for us all. The staff in the cafe were excellent however the food really let them down. Would recommend the train but avoid the VIP experience.

  I did not get to experience the ride as the attraction was closed on Christmas Eve and I have not been able to get a refund or even talk to someone for help to regain my $320.00

• Dissappointing experience as we have to travel that long for nothing and operator number provided is NOT answering.

  Lovely day out made very special by the wonderful volunteers. Tick a steam train trip off your bucket list while visiting the beautiful Sunshine Coast.

  My English friend and I enjoyed a fabulous trip on the Mary valley Rattler . We booked the VIP experience as we wanted to enjoy the extra special seats in the club car , and a cheeseboard with fruit and crackers which was delicious. The train trip was fantastic , the driver gave us some interesting commentary on the journey and the views were spectacular. It was a really well organised trip , with plenty of time at the start to line up for a chance to stand on the footplate , shovel some coal into the furnace and talk to the crew . For anyone who loves steam trains it was a brilliant experience. The volunteers who run the trip are very pleasant and helpful and it was good value for money . We spent an hour at Amamoor watching how the engine was turned around and enjoyed a drink in the cafe . After the journey back we went to the station cafe at Gympie and had a wonderful lunch which had been pre booked.

  

  

  

  

  

  

  

  

• Steam train trip beyond compare.

  Right from beginning to end, perfect. When we entered our own compartment, chilled water bottle in eski bottle holders (we could keep) and a small snack were waiting. Tess, our own conductor was a pure delight. we loved her. The scenery, and sounds, and the fact we were on an old steam train were all of the highest order. The stop in Amamoor with a little market, live singing by an older group of woman, and the tea rooms there was magic. Upon our return, we were served a beautiful and tasty Salmon, Broccoli and potato meal plus a glass of wine, all inclusive. I 100% totally and wholly recommend this experience. Magical and once in a lifetime experience.
