Your guide will escort you around the set, showing the intricate detailing, pointing out the most famous locations and explaining how the movie magic was made. 5.00I have read the books but am definitely not a super fan so it was with a bit of trepidation I decided to visit Hobbiton. I need not have worried, it was lovely. Despite tour parties leaving the visitor centre every 10 minutes it all felt incredibly peaceful. The weather had been foggy and raining when I set out but magically the sun was shining over the Shire (it started again as I left!). So much work goes into making this a great experience, and I did the basic tour but it still lasted nearly 2 ½ hours, finishing in the hobbit’s Inn for a free drink. There are about 44 little hobbit houses as well as the Inn and a working water mill. You can actually go into one of them and you are encouraged to sit on the furniture and handle some of the props. I had a lovely time and would recommend this to anyone even if you are not a Tolkein fan!

5.00It is a well paced experience, and beautifully laid out. Our Hobbit guide, Sam, was simply fantastic, with a treasure trove of knowledge. My wife has never read the books nor seen the movies, but also enjoyed it immensely and would go back. Will have to watch all the movies again.

5.00It’s fantasy world that you can explore behind the scenes. In just a little garden there is a green dragon with drinks non alcoholic and alcoholic and guides tell you about a lot of hobbity stories

5.00I cannot rave enough about hobbiton as a tour and a business. Firstly we have been 9 times for various tours and every signal time we have been impressed with the level of kindness and professionalism shown by the staff. This is a big business with amazing values. My son is autistic and has food allergies so we contacted them beforehand and the accommodations they made for us were absolutely amazing! I cannot believe how considerate they were. They made sure we were booked into a tour that was made up of smaller bookings so we weren't lost in a larger booked group etc I cannot recommend them enough. The shop staff especially Cyndi were so kind and amazing! The tour itself is so worth it, especially the food tours! Great food, amazing vibe, the authenticity is off the charts. I think its a fabulous tour if you are fan, just looking for garden inspo or just want to go to an amazing place with stunning views. Hobbiton tours is hands down my favourite tourist destination in New Zealand.
