Lower Antelope Canyon

Lower Antelope Canyon is located in northern Arizona and is one of the most breathtaking slot canyons in the American Southwest. Over millions of years, layers of soft sandstone were sculpted by wind and water, gradually forming the canyon’s smooth, flowing passageways. During the monsoon season, sudden flash floods rush through the narrow corridors. The rapid surge of water, combined with the tight channels, creates powerful vertical erosion that carves out the canyon’s distinctive hallways and polishes the rock walls into graceful, wave-like curves resembling flowing water frozen in time. There is no artificial lighting inside Lower Antelope Canyon. Instead, sunlight filters down through the narrow openings above, refracting off the textured sandstone and illuminating the canyon floor.
