  Amazing, we had Browny as our driver. Wealth of knowledge and glad he came out of retirement. Journey was very comfortable, plenty of stops on the way. Highly recommend.

  A must do experience when staying in Queenstown, and unforgettable on a clear day. Vaughn, our driver, was so knowledgeable and had great timing on when we wanted to learn about the local landscapes, history and heritage, and when we wanted to sleep. I’m still gobsmacked at the scale of the mountain range and valleys in the Milford sound, and really valued the stops along the way to take it all in, enjoy it and not just travel through the terrain. What makes a tour so valuable I reckon! When arrived to the sound (about 6hrs from departure from Queenstown) you could tell the team was a well oiled machine. As soon as we were on the boat the Buffet lunch was available to eat, and we could eat inside the comfy booths before heading out on the deck for the full cruise into the Sound. We were extremely lucky with the weather and loved every moment of the cruise. 10/10 day out for us, and really enjoyed a surprise on the way home to the petty farm.

  We took a full day tour coach and cruise from Queenstown with buffet lunch. Overall a great experience, coach driver was a excellent your guide, he kept us on track with time schedule, made a few photo stops, very knowledgeable and great sense of humor. Cruise was breathtaking, no words to explain the beauty, buffet lunch was good, no cold beverages or bottled water offered with it ( tap available for drinking water at cruise ship) only tea/ coffee included. Highly recommend taking this tour, you won't regret it 👍.

  

  

  

• Coach-cruise-fly was spectacular but didn’t get correct lunch pass

  Coach-cruise-fly from Queenstown to Milford Sound was excellent. We had a very clear day so not as many waterfalls as I’d seen before on a previous trip but still spectacular views. I had booked the experience with the flight part being a surprise for my girlfriend’s 30th birthday and Southern Discoveries were very helpful when I asked them to keep it discreet so as to not spoil the surprise. Our coach driver Keith gave very interesting commentary nearly the whole drive from Queenstown to Milford and gave us multiple brief photo stops along the way which were great. However, I did book the experience that included a picnic lunch on the cruise for my girlfriend and I but we did not receive the correct pass for this from Southern Discoveries. By the time we had realized this it was too late. I’m not sure if this was a mistake on Southern Discovery’s end or a mistake on the booking agent (we used Luxury Escapes) side but nevertheless we were starving because we didn’t pack a lunch. Thankfully we had a quick scenic flight back to Queenstown through True South Flights which was the best part for sure.

  

  

  

  

  

  

  

  

  

  

• Milford Sound/Fjord bus and boat

  The trip from Queenstown was long but seriously beautiful, with heaps of great stops along the way which made it even better. Our bus driver was a local and knew so much, he shared heaps of interesting info which really added to the experience. Milford Sound was absolutely stunning with a fresh dusting of snow on the peaks from the week prior, definitely the highlight. The buffet lunch on the boat was really good too, plenty of food and options. Passengers were given an upgrade option to fly back to Queenstown, but we stuck with the bus and were glad we did because the scenery the whole way is unreal. Would definitely recommend this trip, and the 1:15pm cruise worked perfectly for fitting in all the stops along the way. We went 23rd April 26.

  I would recommend using a smaller company who doesn’t book such large tour parties. The tour party get preferential treatment, including boarding first to get to the buffet. Even though many of us were standing in a line before the party arrived, they were taken on board before everyone. I tried to walk to the front because that’s where I was standing before they arrived, but the skipper told me I was pushing in and not capable of waiting my turn. The tour group had reserved seating at the buffet and there was not enough room for the rest of us to comfortably sit down. Some couples had to sit apart. The food was ordinary, boiled rice, noodles, big bowl of leaves with a tiny sprinkling of feta, small dried out cubes of hard pork, very dry deep fried chicken winglets, steamed mussels were snapped up by the plate full without any consideration to those further back in the line who might want some. Desert was about 12 lamingtons cut into 1/4” pieces. I believe a smaller company would be more personal.

  Well worth it! The entire experience was made so much better by bus driver Stan’s professionalism and commentary. You can tell he loves his job and is the best ambassador for the tour.
