The Douro Wine Region is Portugal´s best known region. Famous for its terraces, it is a sight for sore eyes.
The region is home to producers since 1756 and produces the most stunning wines.
It is home to Touriga Nacional (red grape).
It was known for only Ports but in the last 40 years, table wines have become an important part of the business.

5.00We now know why the Douro valley is so unique and a world heritage site. Maria knows her wine...she can talk about anything about Portugal's wine scene. We visited 2 wine producers, one of Port and one of Pôrt and table wines...both amazing! We didn't want to leave. In between we have a great lunch with typical and hearty food at an old train station. It is my third tour with Maria and it is always unique experience.
