A journey trough the Mountain of Monchique, the highest mountain of the South of Portugal known for its green forest area, extense views to the Algarve coast and iconic mountain delicacies. Learn and taste wine, olive oil, Medronho Firewater (local mountain distilled spirit), liqueurs. Plus a full and free choice meal in great authentic mountain restaurant and a visit to thge highest peak of the mountain to enjoy the panoramic 360º views (here, option of visiting a shop of local artisans).

Quinta Do Frances Winery

Located north Portimão, on the base of the Monchique Mountain. It's a small, local and familiar producer of wine. Owned by a portuguese-french couple that met at Bordeaux, where he was born and grew up surroundend by the influence of wine. They moved in the region at the beginning of the century to start this project from zero. In the slopes of Odelouca River Vlley, they planted their vineyard and built their small but well equiped winery, that also hosts a tasting room, barrels room and laboratory. We will learn about the production from the cultivation in the vineyards to the winemaking process at the winery. Includes a tasting of 4 wines of different style.

A traditional family mountain farm, where we'll see: - An olive oil mill of small scale, producing premium olive oils since 1953, still using ancient methods and equipments like millstones, it’s like visiting a museum with life. Includes visit of the olive oil mil and explanation of the methods of production. Includes a tasting of 2 different preparations of olive oil and a tasting of a preparation with a gourmet olive oil made for chefs and high cuisine restaurants, all accompanied with the local famous bread of the Monchique Mountain baked in wood oven in the same day. - A Traditional rustic distillery of Medronho Firewater, one of the most authentic and artisanal activities of this mountain area, a true hidden gem. Includes explanation of the growth and production method and taste of the spirits and liqueurs produced from this fruit, typical of this region. Tasting of a minimum of 3 different drinks (Some other seasonal liqueurs may be available in specific times)

Fabio was an amazing host and had a fabulous knowledge of the local wine industry. He picked us up in his very comfortable car and was a very safe driver. We visited 2 wineries , visited the vines and production areas and had tastings of the local products. Fabio took us to a wonderful restaurant in the mountains where we enjoyed great food and local wine. We later travelled further up the mountain for fabulous views over the valley. A great day enjoyed by Maree Colin and Rebecca from Australia.

Our guide, Fabio, was extremely knowledgeable. He made the tour very interesting and enjoyable. This is a great tour for both the wine expert and the wine novice.

An enjoyable day including visit to two vineyards / wineries followed by lunch above Monchique. Not quite up to Tuscan wine tour we experienced a few years ago. Perhaps could have covered more aspects of wine growing, wine tasting etc to further our education. Good to share experiences with others on the tour.

Simply a fabulous time!
We booked this tour, 8 girlfriends spending a week in the Algarve, and this tour was a perfect addition.
Fabio is amazing, very informative and friendly, a true local. Definitely made us feel special and welcomed.

Fabio was an excellent tour guide with a deep knowledge and a very personable character. The tour itself was entertaining and informative throughout and we were shown places and met people you could not do if you tried to organise this yourself. Both the winery visit and the distillery were well worth the time and very enjoyable. The gastronomic end of the tour proved a lovely hearty lunch with a generous spirit - nothing was skimped on. I would more than highly recommend this tour, it was the highlight or our holiday.

Great tour! We were a group of 10 people and everyone enjoyed the entire tour. Fabio was very informative and friendly. The visit to the brandy making farm was unique, something that you will not find anywhere else. The wine tour provided a great variety of wine to taste accompanied with some local meats and cheeses. The lunch at Luar da Foia was fantastic, we sampled some local cuisine and wine all with a fantastic view of the Algarve. Great job Fabio, abrigado!! Hope to see you again soon.
