Children below 8 years old are required to travel in a child safety car seat.
Children between 5-7 years old are also recommended to be in a booster seat for their safety.
When sand boarding wear sunglasses, partly for the glare or just to try and keep the sand out of your eyes.
The sand can get hot, but walking up the dune in shoes can be a bit of a pain.
When sliding down the dune, keep your arms tucked in and lift yourself up on your elbows. The ride can be a bit bumpy sometimes, especially near the bottom, and this will protect your ribs a little.
Easy and good fitness level required.
This is a guided walking tour and sensible walking footwear is recommended.
Please note the walk from the carpark to the lighthouse at Cape Reinga takes around 10-15 minutes each way and is uphill on the return.
Avoid wearing loose jewellery or anything valuable that could come off easily if you wipe out.
You must be able to climb and descend stairs and walk on unpaved or uneven terrain.
Take off your shoes and prepare to climb… and climb… and climb. It’s easier to walk in sand without shoes.
Do wear your sunglasses to save your eyes from both the glare and the sand blowing into them.
