The tour itinerary will unite the most significant places: the "ancient" church, the "new" church, both dedicated to Santa Maria delle Grazie, the Monastery and the new sanctuary.
The ancient church of the mid-1500s has a very simple façade and inside it is composed of a single baroque style nave. At a second entrance to the convent is the cell of Padre Pio and the crypt where the body of Padre Pio was housed before being transferred to the nearby sanctuary.
The visit continues with the "new" church, built for the explicit desire of Padre Pio, with the intention of being able to accommodate in an appropriate manner the considerable flow of thousands of pilgrims that flowed ever more numerous to San Giovanni Rotondo.
The tour ends at the Sanctuary, designed by architect Renzo Piano, one of the largest churches in Italy, capable of holding up to 7,000 people.

1.00Our tour didnt happen as they guide didnt arrive. It firstly seemed like a scam but they eventually got back to us and said it was a mix up and offered a later time or refund. We took the refund.

5.00Teresa, a native of San Giovanni Rotondo, took us through Padre Pio’s Friary and churches, as well as the magnificent cathedral built after his death. She had great knowledge of all aspects of his life, of the Capuchin community and of the lovely town. Teresa was an exceptional guide in every respect, and was sensitive to our need for quiet, prayerful moments during her 2 hr tour. Thanks to her, our visit was complete and unforgettable!

5.00What a very special day with our tour guide Angela who was amazing! Angela was very knowledgeable and passionate about Padre Pio, and presented to us things that we hadn’t known, even though we are devout followers of his. Following the Padre Pio tour we met again 10 minutes away at Mount Sant Angelo; the sanctuary of Archangel Saint Michael for another outstanding tour with Angela!. This day was one of the highlights of our stay in Italy and we will never forget it thank you Angela!!!

5.00We really appreciated being able to schedule a private tour for our family. Our guide, Renata, was very gracious and patient with us even as we were running late due to delays in our arrival. She was very knowledgeable and shared some things we didn’t know about St. Pio, even though we already thought we knew a lot about the saint’s life.
