Grandson of the Golden Temple shogun also wanted to honor himself...long story, but the temple was not finished in time for him to see it. And then it was named a UNESCO World Heritage site before it could be re-silvered, and now they can't touch it...so...it's brown. BUT the garden is lovely and the location is pretty and this is definitely worth a visit, and a reminder that planning how you'll be honored after you die always goes awry...

This was a very rainy day which made the gardens quieter greener and more beautiful. This was my favourite temple I think. The trees and ponds are gorgeous
