5.00A+ tour! A few familiar Japanese favourites and many new delicious foods. Taiga-san was a great host, asking lots of questions about our experiences and sharing many of his own. Picking a noon departure meant we visited the red light district while it was still quiet.

5.00The tour guide was very nice. She asked us what we liked and gave us recommendations on shopping areas and places to go. She also explained the etiquette of how to eat the food and why it is like that in a educational way and was very kind helping us when we messed up. Only thing that was not perfect is it was less food than I originally expected, but it was definitely worth the price.

5.00Such a great way to see this area and visit local restaurants that you may not know about. Our guide (Kari) was super laid back and easy to talk to. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to try “adventurous” foods and learn about local culture.

5.00Quite possibly the best tour I have been on. I saw a lot of things I wouldn’t have otherwise seen, learned a ton about the culture, and ate some really wonderful things. I wouldn’t have been able to navigate golden Gai by myself and was in great hands with Kari.

3.00I’ve done several food tours in the past where we walked around, explored the cities, and sample dishes from multiple spots, so I was really looking forward to this experience. The tour started about 20–25 minutes late because we were waiting for a couple who got lost. While I understand that can happen in a new city, I think it would have been better for the guide to ask them meet up with us rather than delay the entire group. Sakura was very kind and pleasant, but the overall experience was disappointing. We walked through alleys lined with food stands that looked amazing, yet we didn’t stop or even slow down to try anything. Instead, we went straight from one restaurant to the next, visiting only two in total—one for hot pot and another for tabletop grilled fish. Neither place stood out. I left feeling underwhelmed and wishing the tour had offered more variety, flavor, and opportunity to actually explore the local food scene.
