Messina
Our journey begins in Messina, the ancient "gateway to Sicily". Driving along the scenic road that runs along the natural sickle-shaped harbor, we will head to two wonders of our territory: Savoca with its historical and authentic soul, and Taormina, more lively and modern with a style that combines its historical side with the most elegant.
Savoca is a small village in which, in 1972, numerous scenes of the film "The Godfather" by Fred Francis Coppola were filmed. Once arrived we will stop at Bar Vitelli, famous for being the bar where Michael Corleone proposed to the young Apollonia. For those who wish it will be possible to taste a typical Sicilian granita and then continue visiting the village, until you get to the church of "Santa Lucia" which we also find in some excerpts of the film such as that of the marriage between Michael Corleone and Apollonia.

5.00Thanks Marisa and Fulvio for a wonderful day. This is simply one of our favorite tours we have taken. The driver and guide tailored the tour to our interests and were very knowledgeable about the sites and what to see. So much better than the tours off the boat.

5.00We visited the Godfather spots ahead of the crowds coming off of a cruise ship. The driver and tour guide were both friendly. At some of the stops both took pictures for us. Taormina is beautiful and very walkable. We shopped and ate lunch. The only feedback that I have is that I’m not sure why we needed a guide. Most of the time we were on our own and the driver spoke good English. The guide didn’t really share any information about the area, history or the Godfather filming.
