Soljans Estate Winery
The wineries of Kumeu date back to the 1930s when wine families of Croatian origin established winemaking in the area. These families are still living and working in the area today, making some of New Zealand's most renowned wines. These vineyards contrast with the spectacular coastal scenery of the area. Leave behind the bustle of Auckland city and head northwest to join our afternoon wine tour and taste the flavours of Kumeu Wine Country, Auckland’s Heritage Wine Region. Enjoy lunch at a contemporary vineyard restaurant, sample world renowned wines and marvel at the rugged surf-fringed coastline nearby. Your first stop is at Soljans Vineyard. Soljans has won many awards for their wines and they are also widely acknowledged in New Zealand as being an expert producer of methode traditionelle (bottle-fermented) sparkling wines.Enjoy lunch and a wine tasting at Soljans Winery restaurant. The winery is built with sunshine in mind and serves Mediterranean-style food with a New Zealand twist, showcasing fresh seasonal produce from around the region.
Kumeu River Wines
A short drive takes us to our next winery which is Kumeu River. Set up by the Brajkovich family in the 1940’s all of their grapes are hand harvested and the winery is still run by the family (Michael Brajkovich was New Zealand’s first Master of Wine!). Kumeu River are world famous for their Chardonnay and also produce a range of other wines.

5.00This was a wonderful afternoon of wine tasting at 3 wineries which included a delicious lunch. We were given several choices for lunch which included a glass of wine. We also went to the Tasman sea to observe the gnat birds. The views were stunning and lots of opportunities to take photos. Erin our guide was prompt very knowledgeable about the area and very accommodating. It was a lovely afternoon and I highly recommend as no worries re transport and all tastings arranged ahead of time. A lovely day!

5.00The best and most professional tour ever. Our guide Jason was fantastic, knowledgeable and funny. The wineries were great and the wines very good. Very much recommended. Modern and comfortable vehicle.

5.00What a lovely tour to do..my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our driver guide Erin was fantastic! The wineries were divine, the lunch was fabulous, and our trip to the gannet colony with the breathtaking views was magical..highly recommend and would book this tour again when I come back to Auckland. Loved it!

5.00The wine region in NZ is small but mighty, with many wonderful wines and beautiful vineyards. We loved the local chardonnay and flew home with some tawny ports. Kelley was incredibly knowledgeable and made our tour special.

5.004 wineries visited along with other noteworthy areas of interest outside of Auckland showing us the beauty of the coastline and local birds. Wineries well chosen. Meredith (our guide) very knowledgeable and able to answer all questions. She was always on time and went out of her way to make it a meaningful day. The day was so informative and fun. Skipping this would have been a mistake.

5.00Jason was a great guide for both the wine region as well as having an in depth knowledge of the native environment. We had a great time with the three wineries we toured. The lunch was amazing! The side trip to the beach was a great break in between tastings. His recommendations for local Auckland restaurants was spot on. We would highly recommend this small intimate tour of boutique wineries.
A lovely afternoon sipping on sav blanc & pinot gris & gazing on a gazillian gannets.

5.00Catriona was our guide on the day & made this tour so much fun; she has a bubbly personality & is very knowledgeable. It was a lovely day & we enjoyed our visits to the 3 very different wineries, the first one including lunch. We spent a reasonable time at each one, sipping our salubrious wines & chatting amiably within our small group. The absolute highlight for us was our visit to the black sand beach where a great galaxy of gannets were nesting; simply stunning!
