A tour of the three districts in the historic center of Sassi with panoramic stops and curiosities about the recent history of the city of Matera: from a national shame to a city known and appreciated worldwide.
The route lasts about an hour and in this time visitors will be able to observe the Piano area, that is the part behind the Sassi and learn about the historical places from another perspective.
The Piano area is actually the first area built immediately after the Sassi at the turn of the Renaissance.

5.00Peter was an ideal guide, turned up on time at our hotel, introduced himself and off we went in very comfortable style for our 40 minute tour of Matera. Peter's knowledge of the city and it's history is impressive, he was chatty, informative and and interesting guide Highly recommend Apevito tour experience

5.00Vito was already ready for our departure and gave us a wonderful and relaxing tour of the city and told in good English many details about the history of the city and the sassi. Stopped at a few places to look at things and take pictures. Great!

5.00Donato was our guide and he was incredible! He was a wealth of information on Matera and shared some personal family heritage which we found very interesting. He was very polite and never rushed us and even took pictures of us in front of some beautiful sites and scenery. We would rate him a 15+ out of 10 that is how much we enjoyed this tour

5.00Vito gave us an absolutely amazing tour of the Sassi. I can’t say enough about his tour. He’s so incredibly kind and knowledgeable. We took a two-hour tour and it did not disappoint. If you’ve never been to Matera, I recommend taking a tour with Vito. It helped give us an idea of where to keep exploring. And we learned so much about the area and its history. From seeing an example of a cave dwelling, and cave church to the miniature model of the Sassi, and recommendations on where we should explore, Vito left us with one of our best days in Italy. Thanks, Vito!
