The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through the unique ecological habitats while seeing different types of marine life.
This highly-protected and unique area boasts one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in the West Coast. Guests commonly encounter seals, sea lions, and a multitude of birds and fish, and lucky guests might even see dolphins or whales!
Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can kayak through the large sea cave that goes from the ocean into the Emerald Cove.
Entry into the Emerald Cave depends on the safety, and is not guaranteed. Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour.
Valid for up to two people to ride in a double kayak.

Guests will participate in a 90-minute, fully-guided tour of the La Jolla Ecological Reserve and the famous Seven Sea Caves. Our tour guides will lead you through the reserve and give you insider knowledge of the area, including local history, marine life, and conservation efforts. All guests must arrive 30 minutes prior for check-in. Our staff will get each guest ready inside our shop. Once outfitted properly, guests will walk down to the beach, in which our staff will provide an overview of what they will be doing along with best practices / tutorial and a safety briefing for the experience. This activity is suitable for ages 5 and up and does not require any prior experience. We donate a portion of every purchase made to Greenwave & Urban Surf 4 Kids through our partnership with 1% For The Planet.

1.00I was charged a $15 fee by the company, because I booked through Viator. The second fee seemed wrong. I was ok with spending money of equipment. Then I paid to see a sea cave, we just kayaked in the ocean. There was no sea cave for us to visit. I was told that no one visited the sea cave on that day. The guide was nice, but the companies involved were shady.

1.00Baita and switch, coupled with plenty of upselling. Dishonest 1) An extra second fee for 15, just because I booked with an outside vender. 2) Third payment of equipment. The guides were nice, but so.e staff were less than nice. 3) We did not go inside the cave. I heard no one did today. This was an expensive kayak rental.

5.00We had an amazing time on that tour! We love that our tour guides really prioritized safety throughout the experience. We felt very good going out to open ocean with them. They also told us a lot of good facts. Tomas and Summer killed it as tour guides 10/10 would recommend!

5.00We did a kayak adventure into the caves with Tyler and Bridget. These tours can always be a bit slow and tedious with large groups, but Tyler and Bridget did an amazing job of providing clear guidance, keeping us all moving and supporting people of all levels of experience. I would absolutely recommend them for this adventure!

1.00My boy and I were expecting a guided tour, that’s not what this was. The gave us life vests and sent us to the beach. There was no guide nor tour. It’s self directed. Not how it’s described and what we expected.

5.00My son has been a college student in SD for the last 3 years and I’ve always wanted to kayak in the LaJolla sea caves. Today we went (along with my 10 year old) and it was a fun time! Our group was quite large. I think we had 16 people in all with two guides. Water was pretty choppy on the way out to the caves. I definitely recommend renting a wetsuit as you have to enter in waist deep water to board the kayak. Our guides Bridgette and Tyler were great at guiding us safely out to the caves and talking about the area. Tyler pulled groups of two into the cave to look around for bit. Glad we got to go in, but I wish that it was calmer water and we could’ve stayed in there longer. Saw lots of sealions onshore. Overall a good trip. It is quite a workout kayaking in choppy waves- fair warning!

5.00It was an awesome adventure! They had lockers to rent. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We had Ryan and Blake. You will get wet!
