Please look at our Departure and Return instructions before your trip with us. If you have any questions please reach out before you dock in town. We will pick you up at the excursion hub which is by the bottom of the zipline by the green gondola. Also do not go the kayak center. There are two kayak business in town.
Fairweather Kayaks is based in one of the most beautiful areas in southeast Alaska. A little town called Hoonah, Alaska. Not only do you feel like its home when you get here. The people here make it feel like home. It's a hard place to leave after you visit.
Fairweather Kayaks main goal is to show you an experience that when your outing is done. Not only will you walk away happy and relaxed from being out on the water. Our goal is to show you such a good time you'll be thinking about your next visit before you even leave.
Fairweather Kayaks takes you into calm waters where the kayaking experience isnt too difficult and theres always a chance to see wildlife.

5.00This Kayak tour was the BEST part of our cruise! Nothing beats being in the environment vs. just watching it. Was definitely a workout, but I had so much fun, i'm looking into kayaking back home. If you want something smaller, away from all the crowds, this is the excursion for you! Staff was freindly and provided all of the supplies we needed. They even took photos of us in action (see attached). Highly recommend.

5.00The your was excellent. It was individualized, the pace was great and we saw much wildlife, including a bear and two cubs. The your company takes pictures of everything and the guests and uploads them for free for guests to share. Cody was a delight as were the other tour guides. Highly recommend!

5.00Our favorite tour during our trip to Alaska! We had our 3 kids, ages 8, 12 and 13. Cody, David and the crew were AMAZING. Locally owned. Sent us professional photos after the tour. We paddled up to the shore and watched 2 bears. Unforgettable - highly recommend!

5.00I loved kayaking with this family. Lots of information about their life in Alaska. Wanted it to be a pleasant experience with sunscreen, waterproof phone pouch, pictures, bug spray, and snacks. I would use this company again.

5.00Cody and his team did a spectacular job with this tour! We specifically booked this tour because I had seen the other Icy Strait kayak tours from the cruise line, and they kayak along an area that's walkable from the ship. This tour goes through more remote waters from Hoonah marina. They had high quality kayaks and helped the newbies feel confident when starting out. They even have a photographer snapping shots on the water! No whales that afternoon, but my husband spotted a bear on a nearby beach. It was a great day! Thanks so much!

5.00We can’t say enough wonderful things about our kayak excursion with Cody and Dave! They were professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and so fun. We also always love supporting a local, family-owned business. A special shoutout to Mocha, the sweetest pup, and the incredible women who followed along in the rescue boat. They ensured everyone’s safety and captured beautiful photos that we’ll treasure for years to come. We were fortunate to see multiple whales during our tour and even spent most of the trip observing a mama whale and her calf—a truly unforgettable experience. We also loved learning about the local marine life at the boat ramp. My son was excited to hold starfish and touch sea anemones. From start to finish, the experience exceeded our expectations. If you’re considering a kayak tour, this is it! A true 10/10 experience!

5.00Our family of three had an absolutely amazing kayak tour experience! We were the only guests on the trip, which made it feel incredibly special and personalized from start to finish. Dave was our kayak guide, and he was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure we had a great time on the water. We were also accompanied by Cody and Michelle on the safety boat, and having them along was such a bonus. They took photos throughout the trip, allowing us to fully enjoy the experience without worrying about capturing every moment ourselves. A special shoutout to Mocha, their super-friendly dog, who kept us entertained by running around and trying to chase bald eagles whenever she spotted them! Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any whales since they were gathered near the cruise ships, which would have been too far for us to kayak. But honestly, we couldn't have asked for a better wildlife experience. We were lucky enough to spot four bears! One was a beautiful blonde female bear, and the other three were a mama bear with her two adorable cubs. Watching the cubs run around and play along the shoreline was an unforgettable sight. As if that wasn't enough, we also saw porpoises, a mink, and countless bald eagles throughout the trip. The abundance of wildlife made the entire experience feel magical. Kudos to Dave, Cody, Michelle, and of course Mocha for making this such an enjoyable, memorable, and wildlife-filled adventure. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an unforgettable experience!

5.00The kayak experience was amazing and right off the bat there was a humpback whale. A safety boat follows from behind and takes photos of everything, including you on your kayak and all the wildlife you see, so it’s not a big deal if you don’t use your phone. They are also able to take better pictures than what I could’ve gotten on the phone. They have both tandem kayaks and solo kayaks or experienced kayaks, but I would recommend tandem because it’s a three hour kayak paddle and even the people who were tandem were pretty tired by the end. The tide goes out and comes in and some of the time you are against the current. The instructor will wait for you, of course and the safety boat come all the way to you as well if you really got exhausted. Overall, I had a very fun time.

5.00Very pleasant trip. Guides were friendly and knowledgeable, and very helpful to the not so experienced kayakers. Chased a whale, saw tons of eagles and several sea lions. Just being on the water on a warm sunny day was great. Be Prepared to work. No motor for two hours!
